I got my wife one of the large ones and she has a couple of smaller ones. This small one is mine. Mosquitos are crazy right now and indoor gardening is where it's at. Good deal.

Good point! I'm just wanting to grow basil. I make pesto and a few plants would not suffice.

LOL - exactly why I'm looking at this too. Store bought pesto is weak, and buying basil in produce adds up quickly.

I'm trying to grow it outdoors but between the bugs, squirrels and reliability of friends watering while were gone it's so difficult. That's why I want to give one of these a try since I believe that a lot of these are just "set and go" and will do well when away for a week or two at a time???

It technically can but Tomatoes in this unit probably isn't practical as it isn't very tall and you won't have much room at all. This is best for an herb garden vs tomatoes which vine out.

What ten80 said... I have the Bounty Elite which goes to 24" with heirloom tomatoes and I have to do more manicuring than I would like. I got the Sprout for my parents and they've had success with herbs and lettuce (all though the lettuce can take over if you don't watch it).
