If you got the Amex offer, then this costs about the same as that deal. Worth noting though, I was not able to apply any other coupons on top of it. Confirmed with the CS as well, no other discounts possible.

You'd figure the computer would throttle if it got too hot right? I was able to run cinebench for 10 minutes and the results were consistent. Ambient Temps were around 78F.
Good points. Gonna look into it a little more. I guess if the laptop lasts 3 years I'd be content. Upgrading from that OP walmart deal 3 years back sporting an i7 and gtx 1060. That was a decent machine..

You can try disabling/uninstalling the device from Device Manager if you never want to run the integrated Radeon graphics
Does the 3060 115w give you noticeable improvements in games and crypto mining?
Dell Inspiron 7577? I'm still using it and never had any major issues. I think it's still good and relevant, but am upgrading since I've got the savings.

Then I was looking at this as maybe a good budget option that still met my minimum requirements (5800H and 3060) but people have been complaining about significant sacrifices here as well (no MUX, big and bulky, very ho-hum design and build quality). The Omen seems to have the low wattage version of the 3060 (although HP has some new laptops coming down the pipeline that may clear the Omen's weaknesses). Like should I just go back the ASUS and the Zephyrus laptops? Maybe hope to catch an open box on Best Buy?
I would love to see an open box with an easy return policy if necessary. All of your points are valid and I completely understand. Specs matter, but nuances do too.
