Yes

No, if you are seeing this offer as pre-approved in your other Chase (e.g. Freedom) account.

Clarification re: ChaosBait's response.

There are very specific conditions where pre-approval trumps Chase's 5/24 Policy.

Annual fee is charged in the first 60 days. There is no way around the first fee (unless you apply in Branch per discussion, but YMMV on getting full 100K points). Cancel before 13th statement (ideally before 12th, to be safe) to not get charged the 2nd one.

Do not cancel, just downgrade to a free card
06-11-2021 at 02:02 AM
If you choose to close the account, here are the related impacts:

1. Your total available credit is reduced by whatever Sapphire credit limit was lost, which means that your credit utilization rate will go up. The effect of this on your credit score will probably be very small, except if you have only a few credit cards and carry a high debt load.

2. The closed account will remain in your credit history for ten years. At that time, the Sapphire account will drop off your credit history.

3. If you have no other Chase accounts, you will be unable to redeem any remaining UR points that you may have left when you terminated the Sapphire account.

Note: You can avoid all these impacts by changing product (a.k.a. downgrading) to a Chase Freedom Flex or Freedom Ultimate account.

U will not if it is within 48 months
06-08-2021 at 02:20 PM
You do not qualify ...
... if you've received ANY Sapphire series sign-up bonuses within the past 48 months.
... if you have ANY currently active Sapphire series credit cards.
... if you have opened 5 or more new Personal credit cards within the past 24 months (Chase 5/24 policy). Business credit cards do not count.

Notes:

1. Being an AUTHORIZED USER of someone else's Sapphire card does not disqualify you from applying for your own Sapphire card. However, it does count toward Chase's 5/24 policy.

2. Instead of closing your existing Sapphire card, you should consider converting your Sapphire card into a Freedom card (no annual fee) to preserve your credit history.

Gift card purchases are okay. That's one of the more common means that people use to meet the minimum spend requirement.

Offer details:

“Purchases” do not include balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable.

Note: According to my records, I was awarded the 80K bonus as soon as my purchases reached the $4,000 threshold - even though, by my accounting, I didn't reach $4K until a week later. The difference being that Chase counted the $95 annual fee in their total, whereas I didn't. So, in my case, even the annual fee was considered to be a qualified purchase. YMMV.

Yes. You can also check the qualified spendings on the website so you know when you’ve reached $4K.

yes but you will get 80k rather than 100k. pick your carrot.

there was a internal memo to branches. You will get additional 20k automatically with 80k. It will be automatic.

I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I got CSP last week for 80K bonus . Just called to see if they would up my bonus to 100K. Frist rep said nope. Called again and asked for a manager. After some back and forth she said "let me see what I can do" and then 5 minutes later "you are good to go." I hope she didn't say that to just get rid of me. YMMV.

Agree - if eligible, this card will pay for itself. You can always downgrade after 13 months if you feel you're not getting your money's worth or dont want to pay an AF.

MF, I just got the 80k offer! Kind of annoying that the referral link is still 80k though. With a $150 referral + $50 grocery bonus though I guess it's about the same. Still though would be nice!
