I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

Looks like I'm finally beyond the 48 months. Cancelling my sapphire now. They said I need to wait 30 days to apply. Hopefully the offer is still around
You should product change to a freedom card instead of cancelling or closing the card. If you PC then you can apply within a few days. There is a rumor that this offer will expire on June 17th but not sure if that is true.

I'm actually interested that they were told they need to wait 30 days.
In branch, I was told that I could apply within one business day. However, now one week after doing a product change, my old card still shows up as a ghost in my Chase account, and I also today received a mailing saying that my old card terms continue until August 1(!), even though I've already downgraded my card and am no longer receiving the benefits of a Sapphire Reserve. That suggests that Chase may see me as still having a Sapphire card, and thus I'm not eligible for the new bonus offer until August 1.
I'm wondering if Chase is playing some games with people that are downgrading right now.

@VTarantino Can you post a screen shot of what a ghost Sapphire card looks like? I am in the same boat and waiting to pull the trigger on the CSP Thank you.

I called and product changed my old sapphire to freedom flex. The reason you see a "ghost" account is because freedom flex is mastercard and the sapphire is visa. This product change forces them to give you a new account number, but the old one is still available for some time.
I did the PC on June 4th, applied today in branch. No issues getting the new card. I was also told to wait "up to 30 days" but all the info I read online said 4-5 business days was enough.
May I ask what was the purpose to contact Chase through secure message? If you applied in the branch, wouldn't you be contacting the banker who helped you?

My branch person was unaware of the 100k. I didn't want to go back and forth with the branch guy about it, he wasn't the brightest. So, I went ahead with it based on all the comments posted here, reddit and doctor of credit... that it was live for all branches even if they were not aware of it and it would work.
A month, if you straight up cancelled rather than downgraded.
I had to cancel as I already have a freedom card. I thought I heard someone say that even though the reps tell you that you have to wait 30 days, that isn't necessarily the case.

You could have had multiple Freedom-family cards via downgrade.
If you downgrade, you don't have to wait 30 days - there are many data points showing 4 days to be a reliable threshold to apply. But outright cancellations don't work that way - you might get lucky and not need the full month. But other sites with a metric f#ckton better/more reliable knowledge re. credit cards than Slickdeals have stayed consistent with advising 30 days
went into the branch today. the person i spoke to talked to "credit card services" and they independently confirmed that the 80k offer would be automatically upgraded to 100k - on the branch side, you just apply under the 80k offer. so in the end it came out to 100k points, $50 grocery credit, and first annual fee waived. all the documentation says 80k though, so you have to take the additional 20k points on faith in chase's backend fix

Anyone else in this same situation: Applied online for 100K bonus points and now seeing the additional $50 grocery statement credit and first year fee waived $95.
My Sapphire Preferred was approved on June 11th, 3 days ago, for the 100K bonus promotion. Tried calling in to various channels and all chase CSR say they cant add in the additional $50 grocery statement credit and first year fee waived $95.
Anyone else tried? thanks
Stop harassing the Chase CSR by calling them to add the extra benefits. There have been numerous posts regarding the fee waived and $50 grocery credit that are exclusive only if applying in branches.

They can't. Chase is not matching offers. Quit wasting their time.
In the mobile app (android at least), just select the card from your account page and it should be on that page. Also if you go into your Ultimate Rewards for the card, you will see the tracking there (in both the app and chase.com).
I could not locate on desktop website but found on android chase app, looks good for 100k bonus, now to figure how to spend
