I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

I always do these bonuses at the wrong time. I applied in April because I thought 80k was good. It went from 80k to 60k last Nov so I thought 80k was the highest it could go.
If you're picking a card for earning points through % cashback the Freedom is better. The point of this card is
Transfer freedom points into this card and the points instantly worth 1.25x on Chase Travel
Get the 100k bonus every 4 years. 100k back on 4k spending is 25% which is much higher than 5% from Freedom. (Minus $95 annual fee, which used to be waived when applying in branch)
Additional perks compared to Freedom (0 foreign transaction fee, LDW on rental cars, etc) which may or may not be useful. But these are free perks.
A valid strategy is to earn 5x freedom points as much as possible but do not redeem it. Every 4th year apply for the Sapphire, earn bonus and redeem all the points for 1.25c each. Downgrade the Sapphire to a freedom after 1 year and repeat.
So basically you'll end up with multiple freedom cards lol
What is their credit Recon number? I tried 888-270-2127 and was told 2min wait but in fact, waiting over 20mins now.
Update: Finally I got thru the queue after 30mins then the rep transferred me to the fraud dept. I was on hold again for an additional 60mins and the call got disconnected(felt like I got disconnected from their end). WTF happening with CHASE?
Rule #1 of SD, do NOT call.
On a more serious note, I think they're understaffed to handle this load. They have pushed this offer a LOT and now, due to the fact that they did not update the product pages for in-branch and there is so much confusion, I bet their limited phone reps are getting overloaded.
Even after multiple posts on here to tell people NOT to call for 100K points, ones who applied online before the promo, are calling to plead their cases (always all of them denied). The uneasy ones who go apply in the branches are antsy and calling them to "verify" the 100K and that too is a crap chute where some clueless phoner reps are saying its only 80K causing more people to get confused and call. On top of that, the bankers are still calling (there was a post earlier which told the bankers to NOT call to verify the 100K) at customers' requests.
Then, there are folks who applied online, got the 100K offer and are now calling to get their $95 waived and also to try to get the $50 grocery credit.
I was pre-approved for the 100k offer so I submitted my application online and approved in seconds and requested expedited shipping over the phone.
I didn`t want to hassle in the branch to waive the fee and $50 credit

I agree with you. Most of the banker and rep are clueless. Sorry to rant but I dont have much respect for most sales/commission based job. They told me you can't have the card for atleast 4 years in order to get the bonus. I even ask them to confirm with the phone rep.
Update after 2hr I got connected to fraud and got approved. Still kinda ridiculous for a big bank like chase to not have a better staff management.
Anyway did any1 have success getting annual fee waiver and $50 grocery credit for online application? I don't have a choice since I can't do it in a branch until 30 days since I downgraded 2 weeks ago.
it shows up in the chase app. it took about 12 hours for the card to appear, but if you click on it under accounts and scroll down a little bit, there's a section "Your new account bonus" that tracks your spend to hit $4k in 3 months
My new card appear in the app but I couldn`t find the "your new account bonus" section?
I use an android phone so Anyone see "your new account bonus" section in their chase android app?
Thanks

I had to call the Chase Fraud line yesterday at 10:40 am est. Auto message said 30 minute wait. At 1hr 15 mins someone picked up, never said anything for 10 seconds then hung up.
I called back later around 4pm est. Auto messages said 40 min wait time. At 1hr 35 mins someone finally picked up. Took 20 mins for them to confirm my identity and approve the application.
So 3 hours of waiting on hold plus about really 10 mins actively helping on my request.
the reason I had to contact their fraud dept is I put fraud alerts on my credit reports (tha links Equifax and discover breaches). Rediculous that the branch could not just verify my identity as I was there in person applying with my state DL, chase CC and all info they needed. instead told me to call thile fraud dept myself and went through that BS
Not sure if your banker is true. My wife got her card more than a week ago and no annual fee has been posted to her account yet. Sometimes the annual fee would be posted right before the billing cycle is closed. We'll see.

I went in to the branch and spoke with the banker that I worked with. He was surprised to see that the annual fee has NOT yet been charged to my account. He spoke with another Chase representative, and they claimed that the annual fee should post immediately upon approval for the card. If I don't see the fee, it has been waived.

Nope. Nobody has yet reported being able to get the fees waived and/or getting the $50 credit if they applied online. Those guys trying to get that are the ones flooding the system.
