I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

Data Point: I applied in branch after downgrading from CSP to Freedom unlimited around 2 weeks ago. I met my spend in 1 week. last week my statement closed and I automatically got $100K points even though my bonus point tracker showed only 80k.Also, I got grocery credit as well even though my banker did not mention it.
So you're saying that you got the bonus even though you downgraded the same card two weeks ago, i.e. 48 months wait rule didn't apply in your case?
Lot of info, but if used correctly, and you have the spend to support opening cards often, you can net thousands. or many thousands depending on spend ability, of dollars in "free" money and travel annually pretty easily.... (even moreso if you both you and spouse can play)
Applied for 80,000 deal in branch before 100,000 in branch offer. First year waived, grocery creditā¦just completed $4000 spendingā¦was awarded with 80,000 + 20,000 points.
Award came through as soon as pending charges cleared.
Were both awards applied at same time? I applied in Branch shortly before the 100,000 offer and just got my 80,000 with no additional .. has anyone called after the fact to ask for a bump up?

Yes, both awards were added to me account at the same time. If you applied and got the 80K offer before the 100K offer was available in the branch, you are out of luck. Chase will not match it. People have been calling them to no avail.

This is not true. See my commentā¦I applied for the 80k in branch and received 100k
He literally just told you... 48 months after you last received your bonus... you can find when you received the bonus on your credit card statements. Of course, if you closed the account, good luck finding it.
I hear you. I know AMEX notoriously close customer accounts without notice. Once an account is adversely closed, they don't even want to talk to you. Years ago there was an online tool with which users could pump their credit limit every 3 months and the increases were very generous. AMEX found the glitch months later and asked for income proof of those who abused this tool. Those lying about their income got their accounts closed. I don't know Chase is as strict as AMEX, and will perform periodic audit on users accounts. Something new to know. But I still think if I don't exaggerate my income level, I'll be safe. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Many people think and the blogs often advise to keep your highest CL so that your % of credit used stays as low as possible. This is a factor. BUT anyone who has ever been through a shutdown off accounts or even an audit knows that is the worst. Don't make card companies nervous with high CL's. Chase had never done that, unlike AmEx, before the last recession when they went ballistic auditing and closing accounts. That also eventually brought in the 5/24 rule.
If another recession happens expect companies to start auditing and closing cards again.
Secure Message confirmed my lower CL, $50 credit, waived 1st fee, but says 80K, not 100K. I guess there's no way to get confirmation of 100K in branch?
This is an epic deal. Got my family of 5 all approved for this card. Half a million pts just like that. Gotta Hustle
About time your family members pulled their own weight. You probably have been carrying them this entire time. Although half a million points will never come close to the amount you spent carrying them.

There's a good Wiki to read here:

And a flowchart that you could jump into now, but would prob. be better to read wiki first here:

48 months has nothing to do with when you downgrade the card.
It's 48 months since the last time you received a Sapphire bonus.

Thanks, from what date I should count 48 months?

(I had to settle for 2 only)
