I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

Where in the chase portal can I see how far I am (progress made) in spending $4,000? I remember seeing this somewhere on the site but I cant find it anymore.
Chase mobile app shows it (just click on your card and scroll down past the account activity) -- website doesn't at the moment (used to in the past)
There are many other reasons that might cause the application denied. Chase's 5/24 rule is a common one. Credit utilization, average age of credit, proof of identity, #'s of cards or overall CL on other Chase cards all play a role. You should always call the Reconsideration line to find out why and negotiate with Chase. Even if no success on your negotiation, you would know what issues you have that caused the denial, and then rectify the issues for your credit approval.

I just came back from living overseas for 10 years. That might be the case.
That's a great idea on the no fee Visa cards. What's the best way to find a deal like that since the Staples offer seems over? I need to read up on a lot of your posts it seems. Thanks for the insights.
Just sign up for this great deal in branch. Pretty awesome.
Does the branch have anything extra over the 100k points after $4k spend? I know they used to waive first year annual fee and give you some ($50?) grocery credit. Are either of those still a thing?

For the ones who search and look, absolutely. For the ones who ask, there are no more incentives in the branch. You walk in, they ask if you searched on SD. If you say NO, then no incentives. If you say yes, then they may waive the $95 fees.
I don't know if this will help anyone, but here is my experience with this deal:
Applied in branch on July 1st. 80,000 points, AF waived and $50 grocery credit was the deal. I'd told the banker that there was a 100,000 point offer going on, but she said that 80,000 points was all that she saw in the system. I continued with signing up, having confidence in what the Slickdeals users were saying about automatic processing of the 100,000 points.
Over the last month, the app's tracker bar and paperwork, etc. only made mention to 80,000 points. I recently hit the $4,000 spend. I quickly checked the app, and that purchase only had a line item showing the 80,000 points. Obviously, I was concerned as this didn't match the other Slickdeals users' experience. Had something went wrong? That was yesterday. Today, I went to check app again and there was another line item showing the 20,000 points.
The moral to my story is to believe what others are saying. This deal will work out if you satisfy the spending requirements. I didn't ever call CS or inquire about the extra 20,000 point bonus, except when asking banker and being told that option didn't exist. Therefore, I believe it is true that the decision was made at Chase corporate office to honor all of the addition points, even if someone had signed up in a branch. Overall, this was a sweet deal, and it was made sweeter by applying in branch.
Useful only if you are closing in on three months and need to extend your spend. Waiting for a free Safeway vgc deal since with that you can use the pyb bonus.
Anyone here down grade from Sapphire Reserve to freedom card knows if the credit card number will be kept same? I have this question because I suppose to get some credit back to Sapphire Reserve card, I don't know if I down grade, will the credit be posted to the new downgraded freedom card? Thanks

Both are expected but haven't got the card in hand to activate and confirmed, I did call in expedite application and get card in mail in 2/3 business days.
