I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

100,000 Bonus Points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening*— that's $1,250 toward travel when you redeem through Chase Ultimate Rewards
I can only use the reward points for travel only? Can I redeem for cash?
Think about it. Chase will pull your credit report for your application. They go by whatever on your credit report. The data on a particular credit card account will only update once a month reported by the card issuer. If the account wasn't updated since July and you think it has fallen out of 24 months and apply for the CSP, then you will be denied by Chase. The best bet is to sign up next month.

When you hit 5/24 does anyone know if its by day or by month? 2 of the 5 credit cards fall from 5/24 this month (August) so that I'll only be 3/24. They were not able to tell me for sure. Anyone have experience with this?
If you don't care about the sign-up bonus of other Freedom cards, just get the Flex since you have already had the Unlimited. Otherwise, product change the CSP to another Unlimited and apply the Flex for the sign-up bonus later. Every bank is making heavy investment to build a better ecosystem of their credit card rewards.
Thanks and
Yeah, I figured Flex was the "why not" choice. We probably won't bother to do another sign up (with chase) at this point; I'm not worried about the bonus. This will give me one of each and if we decide we love the Flex and want the sign up, I can get one myself later and grab the bonus then.

Smart consumers will have more credit cards issued by different banks to take most advantage of credit card rewards/cash back. For instance, Discover also has their own 5% CB on rotating categories quarterly. Citi Custom Cash has 5% CB on the top spending category of the month. Citi Double Cash gives you 2% back on purchases. AMEX has AMEX Offers with tremendous discount from various merchants (Ex. $200 off $600 from Dell, $25 off $75 from Chewy)
Agreed. We're fairly Chase heavy, though we have cards from from two other banks that we use for specific purposes. Next will be either Costco Citi or a higher-tier Amex. We spend a ton at Costco so that's a bit of a no-brainer. Amex is well, Amex.

If you do not want to spend time to keep track of different offers from different banks, then sticking with Chase Unlimited, Flex, and Sapphire would be good enough.
Lol, it's not the different banks that get me. I can usually keep track of those. It's the multiple offers/rates from the same bank. I usually *know* what the best deal is each month when I'm at home, but when I get to the checkout counter or gas pump or whatever, *poof* -- I invariably grab the wrong card. Every month I tell myself I'll put a note on the cards. Maybe THIS is the month that happens.
Anyone have thoughts on *which* Freedom card we should downgrade to? Flex or Unlimited? As far as I can tell the difference is just rotating bonus categories on the Flex?
Since there are several 2% cashback cards, I would go with the Flex. To get 5% bonus categories you need to activate them each quarter, so you'll know how you'll use that card that quarter.
How referrals works if we apply at bank? My friend referred me, but I went to bank and applied because of annual fee waived. But, banker told referrals cant work in bank. Any one has any luck in this case?
One other question, I have the CSP and freedom unlimited and freedom 5% cards, I guess I can downgrade to freedom flex and apply after 4-5 days so that should work?
After making the product change (downgrade from CSP to FF), you should allow a minimum of 4 days for Chase to clear its system.
This is a very YMMV issue, some have gotten their applications approved after 2 days, others have had their applications held up for more than 7 days awaiting their Sapphire Preferred or Reserve accounts to clear. 4 days is just a rule of thumb (used to be 3 days before the 100K deal hit the market).

You can only do referrals online. So, it's your choice: get the annual fee waived in branch or get the 20K referral online.
(Note: 20K goes to the person making the referral, not the person signing up for the card.)

Unfortunately we've got some reoccurring charges and we can't change the number right now so that rules out the Flex (MC). I'll look into converting that to a Flex in a couple months when we can clear out all the charges.

1.25 cents per point in the travel portal, or in several categories under the pay yourself back program
Potentially much higher value transferred to some travel partners.

I was in the same boat, cancelled my basic Sapphire card, and after about a week was able to apply. I applied in branch to get the AF waived.
No.
EDIT: Not this year, anyway.
