I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

1. You won't be allowed to have a product change of your CSP before reaching the first anniversary. You can only do it after a year. In general you will get a full refund of the annual fee within 30 days after the fee is posted when you downgrade/product change/cancel the card after a year. You can certainly cancel the card during the first year but think twice before doing it.
2. If you product change/download to a card which is within the Ultimate Rewards family, the new account will retain the reward points from the old account.
No need to think twice. If you want to keep it or product change and actually use the card, go for it. But if you are doing it to avoid some sort of negative effect on your credit, just go ahead and cancel. If your score is over 800 it will still be over 800. There's value in keeping your life simple with fewer things to track even if it means a small hit on your credit score. Of course cnbc will recommend keeping it. Chase is paying them to advertise and chase wants you to keep it open. Posting that advice from cnbc is pointless. It's like asking a pool guy if you should buy a pool.
Did you really "apply" over the phone? Something new to me. I thought you are required to sign the application, either in branch or electronically online.
In regards to get your first AF waived, it's been very slim chance you can get it removed.

Got approved today over the phone but didn't apply in branch, any ideas to get first AF waived?
Online: Much faster, perhaps twice as fast. (Sorry, I didn't keep track of the online applications which didn't seem to be causing so much of a problem as in-branch ones.)
That will require 30 days for your account to clear.
Instead, request a product change to one of Chase's free cards (Freedom Flex, Freedom Ultimate, Slate).
Not only will that speed up your application for the Sapphire, but it will preserve your credit history and offer you different UR points earning possibilities. Points are transferrable among different cards.
If I just got my card today in the mail. would I still make it in time to get the extra cash back in the grocery and home improvement categories using pay yourself back?

Any qualified purchase may be redeemed as soon as it is processed to your account (changes from "Pending" to "Account activity"). Usually, Chase takes 2 to 3 days to process a purchase. However, sometimes an activity will post on the same day, sometimes it may take several weeks.
Chase announced earlier this year that the Pay Yourself Back program would be extended through September 30th. Qualifying purchases:
Dining
Grocery stores
Home improvement stores
Select charities
Fund a vaccine ride with Lyft
They have not said what will happen after that date ... presumably, the PYB program will expire. (Select charities may be redeemed until December 31.)
Note: Redeemed purchases continue to count toward your $4K spend threshold and UR points earned by such purchases are not canceled.
Could anyone chime in regarding how the $50 hotel bonus works?. Supposedly you can use it right away if you got the card after the 16th, I booked a hotel overseas thru the chase app last night, today the charge disappeared (makes sense since the booking is in 3 weeks) but how do I know if the $50 applied to this booking?.
The $50 credit will be automatically applied to your account after the hotel transaction is final and posted to your account. If your booking costs less than $50, you'll receive a credit in the amount of the purchase and have credit left over for your next hotel stay. For example, if your hotel costs $40, you'd receive a $40 statement credit and have $10 in credit left over to apply to your next Chase Travel hotel purchase.

I made so much money with this card already. I even transfered my other chase points here so I could use the pay yourself back point thing for the extra 25 percent on points. Really awesome.

The charge disappeared? I'm surprised that they would erase the original activity.
I expected the hotel credit to work the same way as the grocery credit: the eligible item is posted to your account, then the credit is posted on the very next line. In effect, it immediately reimburses the original purchase (up to a maximum of $50.00), but nothing disappears.

Hi, has anyone successfully used PYB for Lowes and Home Depot by buying gift cards?
Hotel booking is somewhat different from purchase from grocery stores because booking is just a reservation and the service is yet to be provided. Therefore the booking charge is only for recording purposes and the charge itself will be on pending until you actually lodge in the hotel and use the service. A pending charge usually drops from the account in 1 or 2 days.
