I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

It definitely does work for online applications. I signed up from a referral link from my wife, and I will get the 100K points, and she gets 20K. Great deal for us. We'll end up with more than 220K points by the time we're done with the spending qualifications.
Since you don't get referral points at a branch, which waives the $95 annual fee, online application seems like a better deal?
You can contact Chase to find out, either by calling Chase or having your banker check your profile.
You can also sign in your Chase account. On the upper left, click Main Menu, then Credit Cards. If you see CSP as an option for you, it means you are good. The problem is we don't know how often and how soon this option is updated.
So it'd be better to act based on the past data points; that is, wait 1 to 2 weeks after you request the product change, then schedule a phone meeting with your local branch and have the banker check your profile to see whether you are eligible to sign up at that moment.
I downgraded by CSR last Friday, and when I'm logged in I see the CSP not under "prequalified" but only under "all credit cards". Any insight into whether this means I need to wait or I'm good to head down to the branch?

Looks like it is conflicted with this:
"Unfortunately nope. The new card showing up on your Chase account online doesn't necessarily mean you have cleared off the old Sapphire card on Chase system. If you intend to sign up in branch to save $95 AF, you may schedule a phone meeting [chase.com] with your local branch, have your banker check your profile over the phone whether you are eligible to sign up the CSP before heading down to the branch."
"The new card" I meant is the new downgraded Freedom card. Is that the confusion I have made? My apologies.

If you know someone or family member who can refer you, signing up via referral online will be a better deal than signing up in branch as $200 referral bonus vs $95 AF.

"Prequalified" uses data tied to your profile while "All Credit Cards" is just a list of all credit cards.

Thanks. One more question, how can I make sure I'll get the bonus when signing up for the CSP? There will be mentioning of the promo on the sign up page right?

Please never say sorry, you are so kind.
That was my fault because I didn't notice the word "new card".
Most of us here have asked so many very basic questions, and you always take the trouble to explain.
Many thanks!
I know this comment is a few months old, but a buddy sent me a referral link (for online application). If I apply, I get the 100k, and he gets 10k points I think. So, the 100k+referral appears to be active for online apps. I can't speak to branch applications though.

The promo page[chase.com] (same link as the OP) has the sign-up bonus information. And if you scroll down the promo page, you'll see a link to "*Offer Details" that provides more information about the offer.
However, the page that you fill out when applying for the new card makes no mention of the sign-up bonus. So, if you want some sort of record as to the deal that you are signing up for, take a screen shot of the promo page.
Downgraded my Sapphire Reserve to Freedom Flex on 8/30/21.
I had Chase Reserve account at the cards initial offering 8/25/16, received bonus in 2016, no bonus on other Sapphire cards since then.
No other Sapphire cards active. I am an authorized user on my Wife's Sapphire Preferred card currently.
Used the Wife's Sapphire preferred ref link today and was told by the online app process popup that I will be mailed a determination in 30 days.
Credit score 862 (citi), 821 (chase credit journey) 832 (discover), (826 Barclays).
Credit Utilization 5%
Income enough
No mortgage
I did log into chase and hit open account and both the reserve and preferred cards showed available to apply so I thought that meant I was clear from the downgrade.
I guess I will call reconsideration line in 2 days.
I was approved for the card but don't do much travel. I am, however, expecting to drop at least $4k on home improvements in the next couple months. Is it a reasonable idea to activate the card, spend $4k on it in the first three months, get the bonus and cash it out (somehow? Never had a Chase card before) and then close the card? I assume I'll have to pay the $95 AF but it sounds like the 100k points is worth around $1k? Thanks for the help...

100k points can be direct deposited for $1,000 cash
Using the "Pay yourself back" feature I was able to get $1250 statement credit back since enough of my first few months purchases were qualifying (Dining, Home improvement, groceries). The feature is only available a limited time and adds a 1.25x redemption multiplier.
