I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

It seems "one Sapphire card" restriction only applies to new application. At least one member here reported that he had successfully upgraded his no-fee card to CSR while having his CSP account active. You can contact Chase whether it is doable for you. I think this is YMMV.
Chase Slate is only good for initial balance transfer. It doesn't get you any rewards on purchases. You should definitely product change it to some other cards with better benefits and reward programs.

question, i recently got CSP due to this thread. actually met the 4k req for bonus today. i have an old slate card that i still use that has some of my home bills on it. am i able to ALSO upgrade the slate to a chase sapphire reserve ?
DP:
PC CSR to FU Friday, Sept 3 over the phone
Friday, Sept 10 went into branch to sign up for CSP and they didn't show the offer yet so I was probably still in the system as having a Sapphire card
Will try again this Wednesday or Friday
Follow up DP:
Friday, Sept 3: PC CSR to FU 3 over the phone
Friday, Sept 10: went into branch to sign up for CSP and they didn't show the offer yet so I was probably still in the system as having a Sapphire card
Friday, Sept 17: was able to sign up in branch, 100k sign up bonus, first year annual fee waived, $50 annual hotel credit
So as expected, it took about 2 weeks after downgrading my Chase Sapphire Reserve to a Freedom Unlimited for me to be able to sign up in branch for the CSP.
Thanks for the DP. The good point is it doesn't seem the wait time has been prolonged any further.

It seems like ppl having success after 2 weeks of PC from CSR. Here's my DP
Aug 31: PC CSR to Flex
Sept 7: applied online using referral and got denied due to CSR still on file. No hard pull.
Sept 14: applied online using referral and received "application on review" but will hard pull.
Sept 17: Called recon and was told I was denied again due to CSR still coming out on my file.
I already received my flex credit card but when I signed on to my chase account, my CSR number is still showing up but unavailable. I wonder if that's the case of rejection.
1dash1, you got a point, but from my understanding RiseAgainst's concern is a waste of a hard inquiry. I can't say he will be 100% denied for CSP, but his chance of getting approved is apparently below the average.
.....
RiseAgainst, hope you don't mind my analysis. Nothing offensive here.
Thanks for taking the time to explain. I have nothing more to add. It's up to RiseAgainst to decide whether to roll the dice on this deal.
Something is suspicious here. Chase detected you'd had CSR on file and instantly denied you on your first attempt with no hard pull on 09/07. This is fine because it was programmed like that. But when you applied again on 09/14, your app was accepted, pending to review. Here is an inconsistency. If your 2nd app was denied due to the same reason, why the 2nd app was accepted and resulted in a hard pull when the first app was instantly denied without a hard pull. It doesn't make sense to me. I doubt the rep was actually looking into the first app when you called on 09/17. I suggest you contact Recon again and emphasize you are inquiring the application on 09/14.
In case the second denial is really due to the same reason (which sounds stupid), i.e., the old CSR is not yet cleared off, you still have 30 days from 09/14 to appeal the decision. By that time the CSR should have been cleared.

2 weeks seems right. I downgraded to FU on 8/30 and went in the branch today(9/17). Got approved with the grocery credit and waived annual fee. Took about 10 minutes with an appointment.
We have both in our household and Amex works better for us so far. They have more/better promos. Both have gotten really expensive though. Priority Pass is losing lounges, so is losing value -- vs Amex Centurion lounges which are getting more locations now/finally. Once I need to travel for work again, Amex will be worth it again (lounges). The Hilton & Marriott status bumps are nice too.
Actually about to cancel/downgrade the CSR (wife) and sign up for this one just for the bonus (me). I did the CSR in 2016 so it's time.
edit - UR points do feel more valuable than Amex, though. The 150% value for travel (Reserve, not Preferred) is great. We'll park the points in Ink for now.
--------
So i am not a frequent traveller and typically travel once a year for vacation. Would you say getting an Amex Platinum is an overkill? Plus their year fees are pretty high too. So for an everyday use, Sapphire is more meaningful?

The best value is if you travel. Otherwise you have to figure out how to turn those bonus points into some other kind of reward / cash.
Amex has more deals, IMO. IE they did $100 Dell credit (plus additional card holder, so got 2x here) $100 Best Buy credit, $100 Home Depot credit, $20 x 6 mobile phone credit, etc.while CSR didn't do that much. That's still on top of the $200 Uber (Uber Eats) and $100 Saks.
I have chase freedom unlimited. I do not yet travel a whole bunch. Is this card worth it for me?
Only if you're going to make use of the promo. I have Freedom Unlimited as well, but I knew I was going to be spending over 4K in the next few months, so it made sense to me.
After I redeem the points, with Pay Yourself Back to get 25% more, I'll either cancel (I don't care about the score hit, I'm mid 800s anyway) or downgrade the card and get rid of the annual fee.

If those reports are true, then you should similarly be able to upgrade your Slate.

The card itself interests me in no way 🙂
