?????? 4GB in slot. So, you can replace that isn't it? You can put a 32GB stick on that to have a 36GB total but only 8GB total memory will run in dual channel.

BTW, be aware of the Display. if you hate those low end 250 nits 45% NTSC IPS displays, after seeing this TN Panel, those cheap IPS panels will look like a blessing to you.

Yes, but there are Ryzen variants that are 1 thread per core, so unless you know which are 1:1 or 1:2 core:threads, just saying it's a 6 core processor isn't giving the full performance picture, which is why I pointed that out for this processor.

I know what you were trying to convey; just corrected you on the terminology. Even a Processor that can handle 1 thread per core, that can still do Multi-threading using thread switching. The ability to process more than one thread simultaneously is called SMT or Simultaneous Multi threading. Intel and AMD processors support 2 way SMT but there are other Processors, some from IBM which can support 8 way SMT or handling 8 threads simultaneously per core.
Don't take it as an insult or anything, just sharing some knowledge. What you tried to convey is absolutely correct.

Beware the IdeaPad 3 chassis cools terribly. Laptop will likely throttle hard with any extended or prolonged processor heavy activity.

There is a Gateway Creator Series with a Ryzen 5 4600H (beats this one) that has gone on sale on and off for $599. The panel is more of less the same except it's 120Hz and has dedicated GPU. I'm waiting for Walmart to drop the price again. It's $749 now. This is probably the next best deal in this price range that I've seen in terms of specs. You could get a nicer panel but lowered specs for a bit more. I think there's an Acer posted with a 400 Nit but lower specs and fixed 8 GB RAM for around $719.
