I started watching a lot of comparison videos between the CX, C1, and Sony A80J because I wanted to be sure which one would be the better investment. Here's the notes I've written so far based on the side-by-side comparison videos I've watched:

Clarity/dimensionality: A80J>C1>CX
Motion: C1>CX(?)A80J
Brightness: CX>C1(?)A80J
Gaming: C1>CX>A80J
Reds: C1>A80J>CX
Greens: A80J>C1>CX
Yellows: A80J>C1>CX
Skin tones: C1>CX(?)A80J

It seems that one of the most noticeable differences between the C1 and CX is the reds. The CX displays red as more of an orange-red and the C1 displays purer reds. Also, in the side-by-side comparison, the C1 seemed to have more clarity/detail.

Cable/ Satt provider can barely handle 1080/720 resolution. Current streaming sites can only offer ultra compressed 4K content. Unless they invent a new data compression algorithm that will not degrade content quality. I do not see 8K being of any service to anyone except professionals.

Since the labor day is on the way, I am guessing within 90 days VideoOnly might go down further on the price of C1 and I might get more information and reviews on C1 by then and I can decide at that time. And better yet, if CX goes down further in Costco itself, I can grab one. Hoping this is a wise move. !!

As a B7 owner, I can confirm that burn-in is, in fact, possible even without letting an image on for 24 hours straight. With that being said, my specific burn in is from the CNN logos. My SO works in news, and we probably had CNN running on the set 2-3 hours a day 4 days per week for about a year. Panel has 8000 some hours on it. It was probably ~25% of our content by play time. Brightness on the set is below 50% (and always has been). With that being said, static RED seems to be the major offender for the earlier sets that I've seen. They have improved this with the newer generations. LG's customer support would replace the screen for me, but I no longer have the original receipt so they told me to F off (threw it away because set was well out of the 1 year warranty before the burn in occurred).

With all that being said, the 77 will definitely be my next TV. I'm not sure if that'll be a C1 or the following generation... it really depends on when I get some home improvement tasks done in our TV watching area.

Is breakin required for this TV? Do you guys prefer to run-in any breakin slides for certain amount of time before the actual use of this TV? This is something I did for 100hrs on my Samsung plasma when i got it 6yrs before. Wondering whether OLED requires that or not. Also, its told that time break-in would reduce the possibility of burn-in.

It does not require break in but will break itself in over 100 or so hours of use. A lot of times these panels, especially that larger 77 and 83 inch models, will show lines or a grid and/or a dirty screen. Usually all of that disappears after 100 hours or so of use and running the screen refresh.
I've never heard anything about a break in time reducing burn in. Honestly, unless you are running at 100% brightness and have a static image 18 hours a day, I doubt burn in is much of a concern nowadays on the 2018+ models.

As i said earlier, I almost bought one for my E7 65", the price compared to the Geek Squad is very reasonable and since it's from LG itself I doubt you'd have any service concerns like with the 3rd party warranties. If you decide to get it you don't have to buy it now, once you register the TV they will send you emails with offers to sign up, and if my memory is correct some of those emails included offers better than on their website.

Thank you. I have registered my CX and lets c what they send. I have called them and looks like now they changed their provider from AIG to Asurion and in transition and couldnt provide me the quote for the extended warranty and asked me to call back 30-60 days later.

That sounds good. So I dont need to freak out if I see dirty image or lines. Thank you for the headsup. What is screen refresh? Is there anything that i need to do periodically for this?

How close are you sitting to your screen? The human eyeball isn't capable of determining the resolution difference vs 4k on an 82" screen unless you're 5ft away or closer. For the FULL 8K detail you'd need to be 3ft away. It's for these reasons that I see absolutely no reason to ever worry about going beyond 4K other than more dimming zones (which is a moot point for OLEDs)..

Stay away from these TV's I have a 65 inch and the Panel will go bad and its not covered in accidental insurance. LG will replace once for free in life time only after that its 2000-3000$ depending on the size of tv.
So my 2cents for the amazing picture quality it has got I cant justify the price of the TV which can may be last for 5 years.

It's actually called pixel refresh on the newer models. It supposedly runs automatically for 7 minutes or so when you shut the TV down after 4 hours of use but a longer version can be run from one of the settings menus. It's not a bad idea to run it every month or 2 just to end any image retention

Great, good to know it. Also, I have finally decided to pull the plug with VideoOnly and going today to get the C1. Charge it on Costco Citi as they have 24months additional coverage on top of the manufacturer warranty.

Did you get a chance to review rtings.com for C1, actually the scores are lower for this when compared to CX in their review, which bothers me. Any good site you go with reviews on electronics and TVs. Planning to buy a projector and screen too..

Got the C1 for 3K Out the door, Now need to return the unopened costco box...

I saw the Rtings.com review when it came out, I know they think they got a bad panel. Every other review I've seen has rated the C1 a marginal improvement over the CX, motion processing is a bit better and everyone agrees its game mode is much better. The argument was always is a 77" C1 $500 better than a CX, but to me since you are getting it cheaper it's a no brainer.
There are a couple of people on YouTube that I follow for TV related info. HDTVTest is the best but he can get rather technical, and B the Installer and Stop the Fomo both post reviews and group talks a couple times a week that contain a lot of useful info. Digital Trends gives a pretty good overview of the product but does not go much in depth like the others. I've seen a couple Andrew Robinson reviews on TVs and know does quite a bit with projectors too.

I've been going there since before I bought a Pioneer Kuro Plasma maybe a dozen years ago. Lots of great reviews before you buy and info if you ever have any issues with electronics. Be careful though if you post, there are some audio video nutjobs in there. I was attacked repeatedly by a few after I stated the 83" A90J for $8000 was for people who placed little value on money since it is so close in quality and size to the 77" A80J for $3500. One of their biggest posters went off on my post a couple times a day for 3-4 days before the mods closed the thread. Of course most people in it agreed with me.
