I started watching a lot of comparison videos between the CX, C1, and Sony A80J because I wanted to be sure which one would be the better investment. Here's the notes I've written so far based on the side-by-side comparison videos I've watched:

Clarity/dimensionality: A80J>C1>CX
Motion: C1>CX(?)A80J
Brightness: CX>C1(?)A80J
Gaming: C1>CX>A80J
Reds: C1>A80J>CX
Greens: A80J>C1>CX
Yellows: A80J>C1>CX
Skin tones: C1>CX(?)A80J

It seems that one of the most noticeable differences between the C1 and CX is the reds. The CX displays red as more of an orange-red and the C1 displays purer reds. Also, in the side-by-side comparison, the C1 seemed to have more clarity/detail.

Cable/ Satt provider can barely handle 1080/720 resolution. Current streaming sites can only offer ultra compressed 4K content. Unless they invent a new data compression algorithm that will not degrade content quality. I do not see 8K being of any service to anyone except professionals.

Here's a youtube link to a comparison of the C1, CX and C9: link [youtube.com]

The superiority is slight.

I just purchased the 85" qn90 frontpage deal the other day...starting to wonder if I made the right choice vs a 77" oled..

Depends if you care about blacks or brightness. 85 qled unless you are mainly going to watch films.

I have the C8. It's crazy to upgrade right? There aren't really many noticeable upgrades for those not gaming at high FPS, right? I can't tell if I'm trying to talk myself into or out of buying…

It worth upgrading ONLY if you go up in size. I have a 65" C9 and I wouldn't buy a CX/C1 in the same size.

I got the C1 77 from the toe a couple weeks ago. Went from a C8 65, I was mainly upgrading for the size and a family member was wanting a 65 so gave them a deal as it was under warranty.

Motion is the main difference I have noticed other than size. Pans are much smoother, hockey pucks are easier to see all without inducing soap opera effect.

I compared to the price on Amazon... They have a special for various TVs for prime card holders were this TV is included - 10% instead of 5%. After taxes BuyDig is $3585 after $200 credit. On Amazon it's $3409 after taxes with the 10% credit. BuyDig gives you the free extended warranty however.

What a horrible deal for last years model. I got this from my Sams club in January for $3000 and then they had a liquidation sale on them for $2200. Thank goodness the manager was awesome and gave me the difference back.

EDIT: MY BAD WRONG MODEL

Wrong model. Sam's carries the CX not the C1. CX is the 2020 model and C1 is the 2021 model.

QN90A is probably the best 4K LED so far, so it is a very good choice, and you get a bigger 85" screen. Compared to OLED, QN90A is much brighter, and the black is close but still cannot touch OLED. In a bright room, it will perform better than OLED.

Did anyone try offering at Toe. I am sure it must be around $3K including shipping and there is no tax ( I am assuming from my recent Sony 77 inch A80J purchase).

I initially bought LG C1 77 inch using this link on Friday. Unfortunately (or Fortunately), the credit card did not go through. And by the time, I realized, they were closed already. So my order of C1 got cancelled. I was looking for reviews of C1 on youtube, and found people compared it Sony A80J. In Allmost all reviews , A80J was superior than C1, except if someone is buying it exclusively for gaming. I mainly use it for movies and sometimes TV shows. Have good collection of DTS-X movies as well, which LG does not support.

I personally went to BBY and compared PQ of both 77 inches from similar source. It was noticeable difference. There is a 3D pop in PQ in Sony, even comparing OLED to OLED, you can see the clear difference. I am glad, the order did not go through. Called them back and placed order of Sony A80J. Found another post in A80J post that people were able to get Sony A80J 77 inch for $3033 including tax and shipping, which is very good price IMO.

Again, I am not against LG or fan of Sony. Just my 2 cents from my recent experience if that can be useful to someone to save little bit more money (thats why we are here on SD, lol)..

I was kind of scared away from the CX because of hearing about auto-dimming problems that can't be disabled. Has that changed with the C1?

Totally agree about 8k content. I have the same model as you btw. Unless we come out with some new type of media format every 8k movie will have to be on multiple discs. I couldn't even imagine how many discs for an extended cut lord of the rings movie lol.

I just hope 8k does not try to force us all to digital…when it does progress. I like actually owning my movies.
I highly doubt most 8k streaming content will be high bitrate like the disc versions. people will want good quality video.

8k is pointless unless you go large screen and capable projector.

Any effect of 4k over 2k is debatable unless 85"+ screen and at a reasonable close distance.

Wide color palate, hdr, brightness, inky blacks, calibration will produce more noticeable effects.
i guess we will see. the same thing was said about 4k back in the day.

If anybody is curious, I just submitted a lowball offer of $2,800 on Verde Toe and just received a counter offer of $3,199 OTD (no tax or shipping). Looks like I will have to pay $238.99 for the same 4 Year protection but it looks like I will still come out better than this deal. I am just waiting to get a response from the rep regarding how long the delivery timeframe will be.
