They were Duralock Coppertops for the last Duracells I tried. Was many years ago. Just going by an old photo I had saved of the leak. Never had issues with Energizer. I'm just done with Duracells. I'm just playing safe with NiMH batteries now.
I use NiMH and LiIon for everything I possibly can now, but there are some items that simply don't like them (like my deadbolt). When companies cheap out on the voltage controls on their electronics, NiMH's 1.2V nominal can show as "low battery" soon after installing them fully charged.

I'm considering using dummy cells on some of those products, using 14500 LiIon and a dummy cell for each normal 1.5V cell pair they are designed for, but when they use an odd number of cells, that gets tricky.

That said, I have had one Duracell Coppertop pack leak years before the dates on the batteries. I contacted Duracell a few months ago, and they sent me a coupon good for a new pack, I should be able to get Optimums on sale and get nearly the same number as the Coppertop pack that leaked. The Optimums seem to be doing OK for me so far, as I'm not stocking up a crazy amount on them, and the items that use them go through them fast enough that they won't sit around for years.

For the last few months, I have gotten the $20 Rewards within a few days.

The one exception is in May, OD had a coupon to get $50 in Rewards for 10 cartridges. I got the $30 the next day. The remaining $20 took until early June.
Where are you getting all of the old cartridges?

Is this offer still valid? I'm only seeing hands sanitizers in the 100% rewards section.

AFAIK, most people just buy empties off ebay. I'm sure some have sources like companies or schools they work at. The rest however have to resort to paying.
Orders of 100 for maybe $.25 each or 500 for as low as $.15 each. They've been available for less in the past, but it's gone up a decent bit in the past year. I think I remember paying $.10 - .11 each in a bundle of 500-600 some years back, but more commonly around $.12-.13 each. I know buying 500-600 for maybe $75 really sounds like a lot, but when you recycle 30 each month (20 @ Staples + 10 @ OD), you're going through ~360 each year. That's a store credit value of ~$720?? There are other costs involved of course. Purchasing $10 minimum each month from OD (like these batteries) and $30 of ink every 180 days from Staples. Not to mention the time and gas involved with regular trip. Still not too hard to come out ahead if you plan your trips when you're going past a store anyway and use your rewards on things you need anyway or that are on sale, to avoid the hefty office store markups.

Like many stores, they're usually weekly offers. As this is Sunday, it probably ended yesterday with the new offer for this week out today.

I just threw away a flashlight that got damaged because of leaking Duracell batteries. I thought I had thrown away all Duracell in the house, but I missed that one. Duracell fails to disappoint in its ability to destroy my equipment.

Can one roll rewards? If one, say, buys hand sanitizer and gets rewards, can one buy batteries (which carry rewards) with the earned rewards from the previous month? If so, will the batteries generate rewards?
Thank you.

Rewards do not roll on percentage back in Rewards offers.

12% cashback at one of the usual suspects, instead of a measly 1%.

And it's trackable. Imagine that.

What do you guys usually spend your rewards points on? Are you frequent shoppers at Office Depot anyway? I need some AAA batteries, and this could be the best deal, if I'll actually use the rewards points (otherwise it's a horrible deal).

Go into a Office Depot and see what you need at home or the office.
Use the 20% coupon they offer up for regular price items and purchase that

Rolling the Rewards is not allowed.
Otherwise, this would be a very very popular deal ;-)
