Note, for me (In texas) I recommend buying the low dollar amounts (40, 50 and 60) to not pay tax. I've been seeing the E911 Fee for the $75 amount.

I've been doing the Target airtime deals for some time now. Today, for the first time, they are adding sales tax and the 911 charge. Tried in store and same result. Even with red card it's cheaper just to pay Cricket directly, at least in my case.

Same for me online. Target has never charged tax before, and prepaid cards should not be subject to tax in NJ.

Boo! What state are you in?
In store, I'm not surprised; but online, that's a first.

I'm in Alabama. Definitely a first and definitely a bummer. I passed over the Kroger deal hoping Target would offer something today as they were due. Should have went with Kroger!

It might depend on the denomination? I'm in Texas and I never used to get charged fees or tax either on the AT&T cards, but if I add 2 of the $15 cards, I get charged extra. But if I add 2 of the $10 cards, I don't.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

These are buy 1 get one 10% off, not $45. Not cheaper than just using Ink and paying cricket directly.

What is "Ink"?
Update: Nevermind. I think you are referring to the credit card "Chase Ink".

Still no tax and no fees in Ohio, either. Purchased yesterday.

I'm located in CA and the denomination definitely made a difference. I initially added $200 to my cart and it charged over $50 in fees + tax. I then changed to two $40 cards and the fees/taxes were gone. Might be a bit more hassle to keep adding so many cards to the account but definitely worth it.

Been trying different states and different denominations and different cards (TracFone, Cricket, ATT) and all of them are tacking on E911 fees and sales tax for me. So for those who are still getting by without one ... I'm guessing eventually they will apply it to all. It sucks because my home state has a huge flat E911 fee which makes the low denomination cards almost 30% more.
