Since I was young I knew JB weld was pretty great. I literally fixed my glasses with it, with help of an older gentleman. The youtube channel projectfarm consistently shows original JB weld is a superior product to basically anything it competes with. I find myself frequently recommending this stuff, probably most for cracked porcelain garden statues among other things. I need to fix the thong on my flip flop and ordered some JB weld on amazon and noticed the affordable price and thought I should share. It's 1 ounce of each part. Working in the welding trade I've heard some serious stories touting this product, even have literally seen proof of it sealing boats up in my day.

I just purchased marineweld version from another thread which was 7 cents more, then I saw this post. So I did some research to see what the difference is. From another guy at a forum who owns a boat and used both version. The marineweld version held up in sea water for years (at least 5 years until he sold the boat). The original version would soften after being in water. I guess there is a difference, in case you are wondering. 🙂

I bought one more than a month ago and Amazon just keeps pushing the delivery date.

Just used this yesterday to fix the bottom of a basketball hoop that was leaking water; messaged the company on Amazon and they said that it would take too long to send me a replacement (from China no doubt) so they offered a $70 refund and told me to fill it with sand. So I said WTH and tried JB weld. Now we're good to go.

Very versatile - we even use it for work. There are situations where we need something to seal up to ~ 500 or 600F but then be easily cleaned so we can break down metal parts. Heat accelerates curing with this stuff but it degrades above 700F I believe. Works great in a pinch .

I think I've used this in the past. Is this the black stuff that smells terrible? I remember it worked great but was really messy to work with.

Nice find. I just ordered 6 after googling it's shelf life. FYI, it's apparently 25 years.

I believe the marineweld also has a much lower psi rating.

Would this work for fixing a leak in a gutter? Or anyone have a better recommendation.

Thank you

Use the waterweld or marineweld for this. I use the waterweld on parts for my pool all the time, no issues, it's great stuff. Very versatile. I even used the waterweld recently to mold a new part for a router I have (repairing a broken button).

I have used this to glue a quarter size piece from my motorcycle engine that broke off from chain slap. The part is not on any stress area but was leaking oil because of it. The break was from a previous owner and when I looked at it, it looked like they glued it with what looked like Kwik weld (the quicker formula of JB weld). I was able to remove the old stuff with my finger nail. I was planning to take it somewhere to get it weld it but figured to try the original JB weld first. I put it on and gave it sufficient time to cure and then put a second coating. It has been on there for 3 years with no issues and no leaks. The engine is cast aluminum.

as far as pricing for this deal, I just checked WalMart and it is $4.84 there. so seems to be a decent deal.

Yes, but as others have mentioned, you may want the marine version to last longer under water.

You are correct, thanks. I was confusing with waterweld. I did notice though that marineweld works on less surface types than the original.
