Do you have the Pro doorbell? That's the only one worth using.

So this is pretty much just a Ring Doorbell in a different shape and without the button? Refurb Ring Doorbell 2 is $69.99 and once in a while drops to $23 if Amazon Warehouse has it in stock: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08PCRN5YT
While I love the Ring camera's, the doorbell I have from them sucks. I don't know all the technical differences but I do know that I would not compare my current doorbell to the stickup cam.

I bought one of the $23 Ring 2 doorbells and have been really happy with it for the price.

I am genuinely interested in learning how ring door bell can be used as camera at a place where there is no existing 12v/16v doorbell connection? like backyard.

You wouldn't. Youll drain the battery quick unless you just want notifications if someone passes by? I have mine just on batteries and they last me about 2-3 months each charge. Previous owner removed the doorbell transformer and wiring and used a cheapo wireless doorbell

You don't need an existing doorbell because it has a battery only option. I have my Ring 2 connected at my front door but the doorbell transformer I have is is really old and isn't enough power for a video doorbell so I don't have the wires hooked up to the Ring doorbell. I'd need to tear into my wall to install a new transformer so I decided to go battery only. I recently installed it and played with it a lot and it's drained 20% after 5 days so I'm guessing it will last 3-4 weeks on the battery. The battery pops out from the bottom when you want to charge it. I have a second battery so the doorbell will always stays up and running.

The IR detector on the standard doorbell is pretty crap. It can miss a lot and have false alerts. Having switched to a refurb Pro model from Woot! ($99) some time ago I have been happy with it. It hasn't missed a beat.
