Pay with your Chase Southwest Credit Card to get the 50x points per $
Giftcards qualify. Buy a $100 gift card, get 5000 points (worth ~$50, maybe more). I'm in.
Good catch. But any risk of the transaction date falling outside the window (Friday)?

Think I'll just buy a flight... can always cancel and spend over the year

I guess this is a safe purchase.

Click on the transaction in the Chase app and you'll see the point info for it .

Thanks for the reply.
Found the information and am only seeing 200 points - "2x pts for Southwest purchase"
Shows transaction date of 6/10 and posted date of 6/13.
Is this something a CSR can fix?

Did you purchase on 6/10 like it says? I believe the promo was only on 6/11, unfortunately.

I didn't catch that. I purchased around 12:20 am on 6/11 EST. Does SW operate in a different time zone?
I definitely waited until after 12:01 am on the 11th.

For anyone who purchased between midnight and 1 a.m. Eastern time, you may not receive the bonus points right away.

I spoke with SW and confirmed that they operate on Central Time, which was not noted in the promotion.
While I have not received my bonus points yet, I was told that an adjustment will be made when points are posted on my next statement, which for me is usually around the 7th of each month.
If that doesn't happen automatically then I can call back to have points manually added.

The same situation may occur for those on the West Coast if they waited until after midnight Central time to take advantage of the promotion.

Can you share which number you called? I've been calling the Chase Southwest Rewards number and now they are telling me they don't know about this promotion.

Did you ask for a supervisor?

I still have yet to see these points reflected.

I called the general SW number. They were able to see the original promotion and informed me about the time difference possibly causing the issue with the posting of the bonus points.
I was given a number to call to follow up -- 855-234-4654 option 5. Hours are M-F 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Central time.

Unless you are calling during the specific CST hours, there will be no option #5 - I learned that myself when I ended up speaking to a regular CSR.

Not yet. CSR can see the promotion and the terms and conditions, etc.. But there has been an inconsistency in who is responsible for the actual reporting/posting of the bonus points (Chase or SW). In the end I was told to wait the 8 weeks from the date of purchase for the bonus points to post even though I know others received the full promotion - 5,000 points at the same time rather than 200 points now then an additional 4,800 bonus points separately.
I will call again after August 11 but this is turning out to be more complicated than I anticipated.

Chase is who assigns the points then at the end of that cycle they post to your southwest account.

Did anyone else not get their bonus points? Purchased airfare via Southwest around 8 p.m. CST on the 11th (have receipt). For some reason, the charge didn't show up until 6/13 and finally posted 6/14. They are denying my points because it didn't post in their system until the 13th. Currently escalating the issue but it will be up to 14 days until I hear.
