This is your typical entry-level electric smoker, that you can have now with end of the season clearance pricing! Just add a wireless meat probe thermometer and you're set.

Free shipping. Sold & shipped by Walmart. Pay attention to the seller, because there is a 3rd party seller with the same price but $60 shipping.

Compare with the Lowest price on Amazon, according to the camels, which was $91 about 18 months ago.

I had this exact same smoker for over a year and it was my first one and if you never had one I can give you some feedback on this model.
It uses chips, NOT pellets
Do an initial burn for a while to burn off factory chemicals and then season the inside with olive oil
The temp gauge on the door is NOT accurate, get a probe thermometer and keep an eye on it.
Check on your chips every 2 hours and when you open the door, all of the heat is going to come out and might take a while to get back up to your desired temp

Overall its a decent smoker, I made the best turkey breast I ever tasted and the best beef jerky in this thing. I sold my propane grill after getting good with this smoker.
I wouldn't blindly recommend the MES30 anymore. I've owned 2 - the original with a boxy display and a newer one (bought last year from a deal) that has the rounded display. The first one was a beast and was worth every penny. I, like the dummy I am, left it out exposed to the elements for too long and messed up the controls. Since I loved the first one so much, I quickly bought a replacement. The chip tray and heating element are smaller which reduces the overall amount of smoke I can get. I can't cook too low anymore otherwise the chips won't even smoke. Because of the smaller element and the placement of the vent, the heat and smoke go straight up. I smoked two pork shoulders of comparable size side-by-side and the one on the right side (where the heat goes) cooked perfectly; the one on the left side took three hours longer and didn't have nearly as much smoke as the other. Because of this, I added foil to different racks to create a smoke/heat maze, which has helped but reduced capacity.
To me, it seems like the MES30 got very popular so Masterbuilt decided to reduce costs. I'm still going to use mine until it breaks, I will just passive-aggressively insult it under my breath every time I cook.
I would avoid this smoker. I recently took mines back. It's too much babysitting. You have to open the door constantly to refill the water and wood chips. Save up and buy one where you can load wood from the side.

It has been this price for awhile on Walmart.com but in/mostly out of stock. I actually ordered back in April at that price but FedEx shipped my smoker to a different state in error. Went ahead & spent a little more for a Smoke Hollow since it was OOS by the time I was refunded.
No regrets since I've had this exact model in the past & it lasted 5 months of weekly use. Make sure you elect the Allstate 2 year warranty as MB sucks at fulfilling warranties.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't aren't those extended warranties usually money grabs that never actually wind up covering you? That's always been what I've heard, but maybe I have heard incorrect info?

Agreed - I would highly recommend a MES30 if anyone needs a chip smoker. They're much easier because it has an external-access wood chip door, is electric and can be pretty much set-it-and-forget it once you get the temps dialed in and only need to add wood every hour or so. It was excellent for when I lived in an apartment.

I loved my MES30 and only recently switched to full charcoal. Big difference in flavor, my for a beginner any masterbuilt is a good option.

I had this one and I returned it. Too much paint peeling from the inside and I didn't feel like eating smoked paint.

I have a MES30 and am using it with pellet tube for smoke. Only use the smoker for temperature control. It was just to much PITA to add chips to make sure smoke is there. With pellet tube I can get 5-6 hours of great smoke even at low temps.

That being said mine is acting up lately with temp control and I have been thinking about replacing it with something else...

Having used propane and electric smokers, I would definitely buy electric again. My digital masterbuilt electric that I have has lasted 3 years so far and going strong. I smoke briskets and pork butt at least once a month all year long. I don't use chips.. Instead I use pellets with an amazin pellet tube. It makes smoking incredibly easy. Light it and leave it.

Yes this uses chips, but you can easily use pellets by adding a tube/maze. I had this for about two years, then ended up upgrading to a camp chef and am extremely happy with it.

Fyi, the Masterbuilt Duo deal for $99 should still work if you follow the instructions from the OP and change the store to 2831 using that 1st link that takes you straight to your cart. It worked for a friend of mine yesterday and I got it from that OP when it was 1st posted.

I'm new to smoking and seasoned it Sunday planning on doing my 1st cook next Sunday. Was the consensus that you should soak the chips? Based on some of what I've read, I got a cast iron skillet for the chips and purchased a needle valve for temp control. I also have my wireless thermometer coming tomorrow. I'm going to start of with a chicken 1st so I don't ruin a good piece of meat lol.

The Allstate/SquareTrade warranty is actually pretty good from my 1 experience (this exact grill). Masterbuilt is supposed to cover the 1st year via replacement parts. They claimed the replacement heating element was OOS & would notify me when available. After 2 months wihtout that part being sent or an email I contacted Allstate to file a claim. They hesitated but did refund the pre-tax amount I paid.
