Anyone who buys anything from CREATIVE without researching their business practices, deserves what they get.

Meanwhile, FiiO makes decent DACs. I generally stick with them when it comes to ones used with phones especially.
My life has become very difficult after feeling compelled to research the ethics of every company involved with all of my purchases. Last time I wanted peanut butter it took me three months to buy a jar.
All I can think of is Port 220, IRQ 5 and DMA 1 FTW

soundblaster burned me twice by deliberately making janky drivers .. to make you buy new sound card.

I forgave them the first time and bought a new card... then they did the same to that card with windows 7
then suing the guy who released for free updated drivers that werent crap.

I hope they rot in hell. too many other options to EVER have to buy anything from them again.

previous to that I had 5+ of their sound cards but really bad taste in mouth after having to upgrade twice due to them forcing you with bad drivers on purpose...

I guess you can say FiiO is much worse since every company in China is essentially allowed to exist because of the Communist Chinese Party, which "business" practices much worse than Creative could ever have done (Tiananmen Square Massacre, Uighur Genocide, Hong Kong, Nepal...and so on).

I like Shiit, they make all their stuff in the US...I have a couple FiiOs too, I recommend them all if you can adjust your belief system to accommodate.

I said nothing about China, and FiiO's biz practices are not at all comparable to CREATIVE's. Totally different situation.

Jokes on you, my phone doesn't even have a DAC!

But in all seriousness, the G5 uses a popular cirrus logic chip from the 2000s. The G6 is better/newer, but cost a bit more.

I'm not the only one who sees $69 crossed out and $84 as the HOT steal of a price right?

What does this do??
its an external sound card. has the same functionality as the sound in your PC except it does it via a USB bus and there are higher quality components in this unit meaning the sound ends up being cleaner and its also amplified. This device also gives u more hands on control over the sound such as surround sound, applying sound effects, mic monitoring etc. Its recommended if you are not happy with the sound coming out of your PC and / or you want something higher end.

Would it be reasonable to ditch my Soundblaster AE-5 internal card for this external one? The reason I'm looking into it is, I need the PCIe slot for a 10GB nic. So does this give off the same quality sound. BTW, I use headphones the majority of the time.
it would technically be better in a sense that being an external unit, there is no noise interference from the rest of the pc components inside your system. Your internal sound card is exposed to that. An external unit wouldnt be. Aside from that is just feature for feature comparison, make sure this one has the features u are currently using with your internal card.

Good point. I remember lowering the voltage on my GPU to avoid that.

Recently bought Klipsch Promedia 2.1 and it didn't blow me away. Actually sounded flat. What gives? Nobody reviewed said speakers ever mentioned expensive soundcard required.

I won't be needing or using the drivers. From a price and hardware standpoint it's a solid DAC. I'll need a lightning adapter to power and send the signal.
These things have equalizer/sound presets. You can store 3 on a G5 that the device will remember when you plug it into other devices, and use the button on the device to toggle between your selections. you need the driver to set them though.

I yanked the SoundBlaster Z from my rig because the drivers were horribly broken (randomly shuffled audio channels, DTS Connect audio lockups, mic input not working with web browsers, etc.) Creative recently replaced their crap bloatware software with SoundBlaster Command, so I gave the card another try. Card has been rock solid and the new software is streamlined and free of bloat.

True, They've been among the most blatant rip-offs in PC hardware for years! SO many SoundBlaster cards SHOULD work w/ Any OS, but they know the lack of drivers will force most consumers to go by a new damn card.. (My whole service team has sworn off Creative, laughs when they see it come in the shop)
