You're using wood as a mat? You must be a bazillionaire. What's next, $100 bills as TP? /s 😆
I did same, brought plywood for $12 and vinyl tiles for $6. it is much better than these plastic mats.

You'll eventually wear through the finish of a hardwood or laminate floor.
Unless it's one of the high end luxury vinyl plank laminates made In the last few years. The commercial wear layer on those is like 30mm thick and is almost indestructible

dumb question: why do you need an office chair mat for a hardwood floor? isn't hardwood smooth enough for a wheeled chair to roll across?
I thought the same and now the golden brown hardwood has turned gray where our rolling computer chair is.

Have you ever seen what happens when you drop a small metal object on a glass mat?

Thanks for letting me know, luckily haven't experienced this, I am using for 4 years now. I probably dropped batteries and phone many times over the 4 years on it.
