It includes a Chromecast Ultra which is worth at least $60 in my opinion

The controller itself and google stadia are kind of a neat concept but I don't use it often

I'm pretty sure you had to buy Cyberpunk for $60 to get the free Stadia controller and Chromecast Ultra. Not sure about the Youtube Premium offer.

I have a few of these:
-CCU is great, but it is being discontinued at some point to make way for new devices. It's actually fairly old but I still love mine - especially being hardwired.

- Stadia as a platform is awesome. If you have any doubts go play Destiny 2 which is totally free with no subscription - you just need a Google account. Play it on a Chromebook or an older computer and be amazed. You can even play without the controller - just keyboard and mouse. The controller is so you can play via the CCU.

- Google shutdown their in house game studio which is fine - they can just keep releasing other games. Their cloud gaming isn't going anywhere.

- The controller is very high quality and uses WiFi to connect. I haven't noticed any lag and I've played a lot of games. My son plays PUBG like a fiend and has no issues. It can connect via USB and be used with your PC or whatever also but it is designed to be used on Stadia.

- If you have a Pro membership you can play games at 60fps 4K so long as your internet can handle it. It uses like 4GB/HR or something - it's very heavy. I haven't played Cyberpunk but the people that actually play it say it performs great. We're getting Ark soon too.

- This deal is worth it for just the CCU really, but Stadia is so cool and since there are literally FREE games available it's worth trying.

Yeah I'd be weary of picking up this deal, when everything I have seen from the gaming industry has said Stadia is dead and horrible. Yet there seem to be people really pumping it up in these threads when other reviewers say the HD gaming is spotty at best.

I believe that's just opinions and misconceptions throughout the gaming industry

Form your own opinion. I'm not a shill and have no stake in Google or Stadia - I did convert from a skeptic to a fan though. Costs nothing to try so decide for yourself if it's spotty or laggy.

My only criticism is the game selection still needs time to grow.

Ik it would have been very risky but I still think it would be huge if they gave it away for free or for dirt cheap. Hardware doesn't seem too expensive...certainly not $100 worth of hardware.

Stadia being dead is just people combining "Google is known to shut down products/apps" with the news that they decided to not spend gobs of money making exclusive games for Stadia, which was always a questionable idea to invest in heavily without seeing how well it takes off. It's pure speculation that they are going to kill it entirely and doesn't really make much sense. Amazon certainly wants in and is trying to emulate them with their Luna cloud gaming. Are they stupid and trying to do something Google is about to give up on?

As for it being horrible, Destiny 2 and Super Bomberman are free even without signing up the free trial (though they'll be limited to 1080p unless you go for the trial) so decide for yourself. How well it works is going to really be a function of your internet.

Wish google created a console. If they were afraid tag team atari VCS. I like the streaming but no way am I upgrading my internet or monthly fee in place of upfront hardware cost.
There's a free tier that works on 10 Mbps.

I read somewhere that stadia will be on the new Google TV with remote soon. If so, do I still need to pick up a stadia controller to play it? Or can a ps4 or Xbox or other generic controller be used? On the other hand, can this stadia controller be used on ps4 or Xbox consoles or pc, or is it not compatible and only usable for Google stadia ?

I got this with the cyberpunk deal. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get this to work with Xbox game pass PC games (FIFA 21). Just does not work. I think google cripples the controller outside of stadia, which is lame

So I'm not the only person finding it weird?

I wonder if it's people trying to keep people buying in? You always get that with failing MMO's and the like too. Securing their investment.
