If you are on the fence, go for it. I've owned both the 12.5" Dewalt and Ridgid lunchbox planers and this thing blows them away. Compared to those planers, the dust collection is better, the hand crank adjustment is more solid, and the two speed finishing is a big plus. It feels like a professional machine.

I also own the stand, but wouldn't buy it again. In retrospect, given the small size of my shop, I would prefer to have a custom stand with storage and a height that is tailored to my space.

Same as hhunt32, I have been waiting for this to go on sale. I happen to see it (by accident when I was looking through my Amazon history) before this was posted to slick deals and ordered one immediately. Lowes and HomeDepot also dropped their price to $499. Lowe's near me had 7 yesterday. I went to order it and they had none in nearby store and they wanted $90 for shipping to send me one. So I ordered one from Amazon which has free shipping. Amazing deal. The portable table that goes with this is also on sale for $159. I highly recommend you order that too since the planer is over 100lbs.

As everyone else, been waiting forever for this. Only better deal is the refurbished that occasionally go on sale for a little less. Not waiting for that anymore! Now will have to explain to the significant other why I need it. 🤣

For first time users, do not use this without some sort of bag or dust collection attached. The chip blower on this thing is serious and will blow chips and dust all over the place. A hose to one of those cheap, bucket top separators is sufficient if you're not worried about fine (very unhealthy) dust.

Thank you OP. Ditto on the wait. I've been watching Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist for a good used Grizzly planer while also waiting on this; decided not to pass this up. Also got the stand on sale and the the dust port 4" adapter. With all the great reviews looking forward to using this. Rough lumber not priced as crazy as nominal lumber now - good time to have a planer.

Agreed. I did lots of research before buying the DW734. On paper it seemed like there wouldn't be a noticeable difference between the 734/735 for hobby use. In my experience, however, the difference is night and day. The 734 feels like a toy compared to the 735.
