I love discord but $10 a month is nuts. I'd pay maybe $12 a year. If they reduced their price I think they'd get a lot more willing to pay.

In any case, I will take the 3 months free! Thank you.

Don't forget to go on the Desktop version of Discord and remove your credit card as soon as you redeem this. They have terrible customer support.

I've had Nitro Classic and was going to use this to upgrade, but turns out I'm not eligible even with that. Just letting anyone know in case they're curious.

werid I had subscribed to classic back in Dec. 2020 and it let me redeem this for 3 months

Yes i canceled under Subscriptions and removed the card from billing. Says Your Subscription will end on Sep 11th 2021.

While powerful, Discord is the most cluttered messy dark experience competed to other messaging apps. The ridiculous number of channels makes it hard to track a conversation or find topics and people.
I use it for crypto talk and Telegram is so much better. And Discord now has a paid version? And owned by Microsoft? No thanks.
Update: apparently the deal with Microsoft fell through.

Fake news. Microsoft deal fell through. The channels are useful for breaking out side conversations for a community. Would be a literal nightmare to do this with telegram. I agree that it is somewhat dark and sometimes hard to figure out, but it is very powerful for building communities.
