Trying to understand, i can give this link to someone else who had nitro boost previously and now with the new link, they get 3 months free?
No. This offer is only valid for any Discord account that had never, ever used Nitro before. Whether it would be your account, a friend's account, or some random stranger's account, if the account has never used Nitro, this offer will work.
This is a promo to get Discord users to sign up for Nitro, probably to help boost its revenue and overall value for a sale or IPO. Recently, Discord was in talks to sell itself to companies like Microsoft, Amazon and even Epic Games to name a few, but quit talks last April and is currently exploring the option of going public.
I've had Nitro Classic and was going to use this to upgrade, but turns out I'm not eligible even with that. Just letting anyone know in case they're curious.

werid I had subscribed to classic back in Dec. 2020 and it let me redeem this for 3 months
If you ever had Nitro on your account, you are ineligible to redeem on the same account. You can, however, still give the Nitro link to a friend so they can redeem.
or just use it to boost servers since can make multi accounts and use prepaid cards.
While powerful, Discord is the most cluttered messy dark experience competed to other messaging apps. The ridiculous number of channels makes it hard to track a conversation or find topics and people.
I use it for crypto talk and Telegram is so much better. And Discord now has a paid version? And owned by Microsoft? No thanks.
Update: apparently the deal with Microsoft fell through.

Fake news. Microsoft deal fell through. The channels are useful for breaking out side conversations for a community. Would be a literal nightmare to do this with telegram. I agree that it is somewhat dark and sometimes hard to figure out, but it is very powerful for building communities.
