Cheapest ever for any platform per "Deku Deals" (Switch prices) and "is there any deal" (Steam prices). Probably worth the price for a SNES 2D Zelda A Link to the Past clone? Metacriric reviews average 80/100 on Switch and 78/100 on Steam. Anyone have any input that has played this game?

This game is definitely worth it if you are a fan of Legend of Zelda LttP

I didn't like this game. It was one of the few games I refunded in Steam. The graphics and music was nice but it was pretty boring to me. This is coming from a Zelda/2D puzzler fan. All the treasure chests were just mostly useless gold so going out of your way to explore is moot.

I enjoyed this game on the Switch although it was a bit on the easy side (similar to Link's Awakening). Definitely worth it for this price if you enjoyed classic 2D Zelda.

I very much enjoyed this game. I believe I didn't finish it because I hit a progression wall where I wasn't able to do something quickly enough? I can't remember now.

Hope it hits this price on Steam during the summer sale.

I keep looking at this game because it looks like A Link To The Past, but I can just play A Link To The Past soooo...

This game is alright. I played it. It's pretty short, but charming. It doesn't really do anything with its premise. It's like a grandfather telling a story, and he can change the details as you play when he wants to make it more interesting for the kids. But they barely ever do anything with that. Not sure why that's even the plot.

Honestly, this has the same problem every other Zelda clone has. It's just too simple. Zelda dungeons and puzzles are these big, elaborate set pieces that make you feel so cool when you figure them out. And every single one of these clones just has small, simple, single-room puzzles.

Zelda link to the past is my fav game of all time.

Easy to pick this up if it keeps getting compared to it.

It tries very hard to be like A Link to the Past, and it definitely looks the part, but it always falls just short of reaching its level, gameplay-wise. I think a better comparison is probably Link's Awakening since the puzzles and world are more simplified than what you'd find in ALttP.

Someone above mentioned that the premise of the game, about a grandfather telling a story to his granddaughters, is never fully realized, and that is seriously the biggest missed opportunity. They constantly break the pace to interject them talking about the story but it's never meaningful. However, there's a handful of times they use his faulty memory to allow you to choose how to change the events of the story based on which granddaughter you want to agree with, but it would have been a much better game, in my opinion, if they leaned into that mechanic more often. They could have made it so that one granddaughter kept the story grounded and traditional, while the other one kept suggesting ridiculous curve balls that didn't fit into the story but made the game more difficult.

It's still a good game, and you're definitely gonna get your money's worth at it's current price. Just don't expect it to be as great as one of the greatest games of all time.
