No. Cricket requires 'active' service. Depending on who you ask, that means continuous service on that SIM (ie can't swap to another device). Others have said you can have breaks in service as long as you add up with 180 days total.

Lol good luck getting this unlocked, I activated on 12/31/2020, their system said 1/1/2021 (odd when I log in it says 12/31/2020). Try to unlock it on 7/1/2021 they say it hasnt been 6 months, ask them to count it they say its been 5 months 28 days... Um no it's been 6 months not sure how you can't count to 6 but it's 6 months. They hung up on me, three times, once after trying to speak to a manager, next time with a rep who I asked if he could count to 6, and now another time same thing asking please count it and I'm paid up past the 6 months. Cricket is an awful company, and if there are any cricket reps on this forum your customer service is not only awful but apparently can't count from 1 to 6.

Some chase cards have $25 offer too can be used for bill payment as well as getting referral will make this cheaper if you planning to wait for the unlock vs just buying it for wifi android device.

you can unlock from the app if you logout first. then scroll down bottom left for an unlock option.

as for unlock I was able to request it (on LG Stylo6) with more than a week left!? it just needed 6mos of paid service, not a full 180 days.

being surly to reps usually is counterproductive. I've requested a IOS unlock and had no issues again with about 8 days to spare.
