Just a heads up, according to mobiletechreview, the processor in this one is rated for ultra low power 7-15 W instead of 15-28W in the regular low power processor used in X1 Carbon/Yoga.
You should watch the full review again. That is just Intel's reference rating but laptop manufacturers can tweak it to a great margin and in Tiger Lake generation, that TDP rating is a joke. This Lenovo's implementation of so-called ULT (Ultra Low Thermal) Processor, never goes below 15W and it can go way over 28W, maximum what Intel officially recommend for their U series. It actually beats Dell XPS 13 with i7-1165G7.

For those that got the student/teacher discount, did you guys have to enter in your ssn to verify on ID.me?

The Ryzen is a fine processor, but a $1000 laptop with 5Gbps usb is a bit lame..
The Intel-based here has (up to) 40Gbps USB4.
Also, the AMD one is FHD, whereas the Intel one has 2k 16:10.

I'm so ready to jump on an AMD-based Thinkpad. Hopefully the next one....

No, IIRC. You do have to upload a photo of your school ID. Took them only a few minutes to verify.

$1100 for a low-performance 4-core CPU and no dedicated graphics? Also for a laptop over $1k you would also expect a 1TB SSD or higher. If you look carefully at the specs this is not that good of a "deal." For this price you can get a Ryzen 5800H + 3060 that will blow this out of the water. I guess what you are paying for here is the slim chasis that will throttle your performance anyways
True, but you're also attributing no value to the fact that his laptop is lighter than a ipad with a keyboard and at 13" with carbon chassis... personally i would be interested in this laptop because it's perfect on the go and I can dock it to a eGPU when I get home.

If you're looking for a potent laptop, this laptop is not for you.

This laptop is for people who look for a laptop that is extremely light yet equipped with an amazing display and X1 build quality.

The performance of the laptop is decent for most people who would only use it for Office work, web browsing, and video streaming.

Purchased the 1tb version. $1170 after tax, before urlhasbeenblocked. Around $1100 total after urlhasbeenblocked.

I currently have an X1 Carbon Gen 6 and it's the best laptop I've ever used, bar none. Anyone who says this is a bad deal based on specs compared to something like a Dell G series has no idea what they're talking about.

ThinkPads get a bad rap for some people due to their rabid fan base, but even trying to be as unbiased as possible, I'll never use another high end ultra portable besides the X1 series. I've had mine for 2 years and it has quite literally had one issue. A keyboard cap fell off, and Lenovo quickly sent me a brand new entire keyboard and top panel.

There is a reason that so many businesses only use ThinkPads. They really are great laptops, especially for work. What they lack in top end specs, they make up for in build quality and reliability.

They're not perfect(nothing is) but I've used high end laptops from pretty much every main manufacturer and always come back.

Now hopefully I'm not disappointed in the Nano lol.

Putting this here because this model is not in the OP:

Given how difficult it is to find a single-sided 2242, the best bang-for-the-buck here is the i7 w/ 1TB: https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/us/en/p/20UNS02500

Comes out to $1,081.73 after student/teacher/military discount and before tax, $86 CB from Rak*n, and $32 rewards.

Weird… I registered with my university's .edu but its asking for my last 4 digits to confirm enrollment and the other option asks for my full social I believe.

Obviously, this depends on your comfort level, but SSA uses ID.me for verification if that makes you breathe easier: https://secure.ssa.gov/RIL/SiView.action
