I think the square footage is off and they are counting outdoor spaces and pools in their numbers.

Also, this is just the accommodations. You would still be on the hook for airfare, activities, and food (which I have heard prices are insane). This looks to me like a teaser entry to an escalator... a vacation easily totalling $12,000 or more.

I always want to try one of those. But my question is what do you do there beside hanging out at the villa?
Keep posting pictures on your social media to make your family and friends jealous of course.

If you want Bora Bora without the expense I can't more highly recommend flying to The Cook Islands into Rarotonga and taking at a least a day or 2 to Aitutaki to the north which is just a short 35 minute hop on Air Rarotonga.

I flew this on a nonstop LAX to Rarotonga SD on Air New Zealand before COVID hit for under $500 RT. Food isn't nearly as expensive as Bora Bora and the people are awesome as they are half New Zealanders and many are from relationships with American GIs who came to the islands in the 1940s and built an airbase. Very safe and laid back place.

Aitutaki is amazing, do some Google searches. If you really were set to hit Bora Bora it's only 500 miles from the Cook Islands.
I actually looked this up and the flight price from my city to Rarotonga is ridiculous.

keep an eye out here on SD or set an alert here, prior to Covid we were seeing $500-600 RT prices from LA. It was crazy high to book from the East coast so I had to book a separate east coast to LA flight and then picked up my bag and rechecked in LA to Air New Zealand. You can get to LA for super cheap these days so it may be worth a review if we see the Air New Zealand route come back. It was AZ19 and AZ18 flight numbers.

I just checked and I see the problem why you are seeing that crazy high price. They have suspended the LA to Rarotonga direct flight and make you travel all the way to New Zealand which has big time restrictions and then fly back to Rarotonga. It's pretty much undoable currently.

I have been all over the Caribbean. You can't compared Bora Bora or the Maldives with those places. LOL. Don't take me wrong, the Caribbean is nice and all. But this is in a different category.
Can you elaborate a bit on how/what differs? I'm asking because i'm trying to see if there are specific things that stand out to you that may (or may not be) relevant to others.

First, the water, the water is so much more clearer and more calm at Bora Bora and that's because of the reef it protects the inner water areas much better than in the Caribbean. I have been to the Caribbean a lot and to Bora Bora and Moorea. Nothing can compare to Bora Bora except for Maldives in terms of natural beauty.

Second, the people, the service and clientele at Bora Bora and I'm sure the Maldives is much higher than in the Caribbean. That could make a huge difference in your trip.

If you are looking just to get smashed don't bother with the Maldives and Bora Bora, it'll be a waste of money. You go for the beauty, the scenary, the quiet, and snorkeling.

You won't find the crystal clear lukewarm waters in the Caribbean. Marine life is stunning.
Waking up in the morning, walking up to the platform and jump straight into the ocean.

It's just difference ambiance. The first time I went to the Caribbean in my teens I thought it was amazing. After you go to places like the Maldives, Bora Bora, The Philippines, etc... the Caribbean is just like a trip to Florida. LMAO

If you go to the Maldives and you don't have that much leeway to spend out of pocket, I would suggest getting a travel credit card and use the points to offset the cost of the hotels. Also look for hotels that have boards (half or full) or all inclusive to save money. Full board includes breakfast lunch and dinner but nothing more. There are also hotels that provide the transfers from the airport to the resort.
Example, booked a hotel on my credit cards reward site and it was all inclusive and included sea plane transfer.
