Refurbished??? You have to pay attention to the fine print at Ollie's, a lot of "deals" there are refurbished.

That's not what refurbished means exclusively. It could also mean there was a defect that was repaired. Either way they fix it and test it before selling it.

But you make it sound like refurbished is some sort of no brainer buy. There's a reason refurbished is significantly cheaper. Pre-owned with all the qualities that brings.

You can get these at Ollie's for $99 or less.

I've had two of these and they didn't last, which is unfortunate because they work well out of the box.

Based off Amazon reviews, both seem like good products. This is using the fakespot extension.
My biggest concern is I have a lot of pet hair. I'd vacuum before using, but per hair never fully goes away haha. If a $70 machine doesn't last long, I'm okay with that. If a $180 machine doesn't last long, I'll be more upset

For the difference in price, would one recommend this or https://m.kohls.com/product/prd-4...tShip=true at $70 after 30% off?

You'll have to factor in the price of those VacMop pads over the life of the product.

Yes, these are refurbished units at Ollie's and only warrantied for 6 months. I've owned two Crosswaves. The first one (new from Kohl's) lasted me 5 years with very frequent use. I bought a refurb from Ollie's a couple of months ago, and while it is working fine, I can tell from the sound of the motor something is "off," it's just sooo much louder than my other one and the pitch of the motor noise will change sometimes while in use, which is not normal. I probably should have returned it, but, you know, life happened…. Hopefully I just got a real lemon, but I just want folks to know as Ollie's isn't exactly forthcoming in its ads or on its shelf tags that they're refurbished (the box does have small type to indicate it, but it's easy to miss).

I know what you mean. I would get the cheaper one and only use it for tile/wood and then just use a dedicated vacuum for the carpet. I got a Dyson animal vacuum and it works really well and picks up dog hair no problem. And my dog is black so you can really tell when his hair isn't picked up.

I have a cat that sheds horribly. If you buy this, get the pet strainer for the dirty water tank (I think I paid like $15 for it). And yes, be prepared to do a little more cleaning of your machine in the connecting tube between the roller head and the dirty tank, where hair gets caught up after a few uses. You can snake a bottle brush or a tooth brush down it. Better that than hair balls wafting through my house, though.

The problem most people have with the Crosswave is that they aren't willing to put in the extra few minutes to properly clean out their machine after use. It's not like a vacuum where are you can wait to clean it out "next time."

Hard surfaces. Supposedly you can use it to spot clean low/no pile rugs, but I think that's totally absurd - it sprays water and the suction is not strong enough to get all/most of it out like a carpet cleaner. I feel like using it on textiles or fiber is a good way of inviting mildew.

A lot of them are just returns. Someone decided they didn't want something. If they have to fix something, then it's still the same thing. You can get these in the $70-$99 range, depending if you have one of the coupons. If you want to spend twice the price, then your choice. Smilie

Thank you for the info! Do you happen to know where I can find the strainer, or a link? Tried finding myself and can't seem to find anything for this model

I got mine for $75 refurb from eBay I think. I've had it for a couple of years.

It's made for non carpet floors. I have one and I have used it on carpet but my $60 refurb Shark does a great job for that.

I use one of these for our tile floor. Our entire first floor is tile and it's about 1700 sq ft and this does a great job. Be sure to empty it after every use and clean it. I use Mr. Clean as my cleaner in it and it works great. So much cheaper than the stuff they recommend.

These things work great, but they do not last! Went through 2 in one year. 1st one was replaced under warranty. Then that one died and we just took it to home depot explained our problem with such a defective product they replaced it again (this was out if the return window). I now use the Tineco iFloor which works great. The cross wave is on the back burner just incase one day I forget to charge the new machine.
