My current 2015 $3200 LG fridge is dying on me due to cooling issue after replacing the compressor back in 2018. Beautiful fridge but horrible internals. Here I am again buying another LG fridge. Costco deal with $1000 off total came out to $2189.99. Best deal for this type of fridge. Crossing fingers and hoping this one lasts me at least 10 years.

It won't last 10 years! The linear compressor breaks within 3 years. You have to pay $300+ labor fee to replace it

LG fridge suck, expensive and nearly impossible to repair. Just had a $3500 5yr old LG that the compressor stopped working. Repairman said it is a common problem and basically said it is now a large paperweight.

I'll add my LG fridge story to the mix....actually going through this right now. My LG fridge compressor just went out after only 3.5 years in. I bought the fridge from Costco on the costco visa so it was still under warranty for another 6 months but since the LG compressor issue is widespread (they just settled a class action suit), the warranty company knew LG has had to extend the warranty on compressors to 5-10 years and wants me to go through them for the compressor costs. But man is LG a crappy company. They have authorized repair shops but each of the four I called in the area either just don't respond or told me straight up that they do not repair LG fridge compressors (LG authorized repair shops don't repair LG fridges!?!?). LG wanted me to wait 5 days to hear back from the other authorized shops and then they'd start the process of getting approval for a non-authorized shop (which would take another 3-5 days). I gave in and had to get the repair done by a non-authorized shop and the guy that came for the repair said no one is willing to do the LG compressor repairs b/c LG is so difficult to work with. He mentioned they normally only pay like $250 for the compressor repair when the actual part alone costs $350 not including labor. And sure enough when I pressed LG harder via their twitter help, they first tried to offer me just $250. I still have the case open with them to get fully refunded for the repairs though. It's BS that they settled a lawsuit and extended the warranty only to make it as difficult as possible for people to actually use the warranty.

I had actually read the reviews of similar stories but saw that LG was still highly rated and recommended by consumer reports so gave it a shot. But the number of bad experiences with appliances is crazy these days. I also got a Samsung washer and dryer at the same time as this fridge even though there were Samsung washers that were exploding back then....lol. I think even old school appliance companies like Whirlpool and GE reliability has gone down since they're all having to keep up with each other to make the prettiest, cheapest stuff. Not even sure what I will get when this fridge does go out again (which seems like a certainty). Sucks that a $2k+ fridges are not even lasting 10 years.

Any thoughts on the Samsung 82" Class - Q6DT Series - 4K UHD QLED LCD TV? It seems so cool but I never even considered a TV so big.

You jumped from one notoriously bad fridge brand to another. LG and Samsung apparently have terrible track records.
Yeah its so true its sad really. They plaster all these features and people buy into these (me too at some point) only to find out later that they deal with all sorts of problems. I had 1 samsung fridge and 1 samsung washer (yes the one that blew up) die on me. I had 1 LG dryer die on me (I replaced the damn belt and the thing still died a couple years later) ... all higher end models, nothing under 1.5K all under 5-7 years like WTF I know people with 20 year old appliances. I put so much time and money into fixing my appliances . Just sucks especially as a (back then) new home owner.
Anway I am at Bosch, Kitchenaid , and just staying away from all these "too good to be true" type deals on appliances unless u plan on adding a hefty warranty plan along with them, I would stay the F away. You may think u passed on a great deal but the truth is you probably dodged lots of time spent fixing and more money thrown away over the years

warning, the refrigerator is pretty deep, 36.25. Our normal cabinet depth is 32.25, or with handles it's 35". That means the refrigerator may stick out by at least 4 inches.

I see people ITT saying not to go with LG or Samsung refrigerators. I can personally attest to the crappiness of Samsung fridges (ice build up issues) and I need to get mine replaced. What are the best brands I should go for?

Also that model doesn't have craft ice like the 2020+ models. I just purchased one with this feature…. I really wanted it and got it for a great deal otherwise you're looking at min $3k for a dual ice maker LG with craft ice. I got mine (no insta view panel) for about $2k.

Link to craft ice video

Bosch for sure, I heard good things about Thor, Kitchenaid - although its a hit or miss depending on the model/year so may wanna read on that. You can also grab a consumer reports membership and just take a look at their ratings.

I have a Samsung fridge, basic french door stainless model for 10+ years now, still working fine. Small ice build up issue which my GE profile fridge has as well. I personally do not drink the water from fridge, use ice ocassionally. I would stay away from all the techy or unnecessary feature to avoid trouble.

Same hold for washer and dryer, also Samsung, basic front door model, still strong at 10+ years old.

Agreed 100%. Fridges don't last more than 5 years now days. Even so, most require repairs and warranties don't cover everything. My mom had her fridge for 20+ years, no ice nor water. The more things you add the higher the failure rates. There's also no good manufacturer out there, they're all the same in terms of quality. You have subzero fridges, but they cost 20k.

Get a cheap 1k fridge, it will last you 10 years vs one that's more expensive and would be lucky to get 5 years out of it without repairs.
