EDIT - just to give everyone an idea of the CR scoring, the 4 best detergents scored in the 80s... Tide Ultra Stain Release and Persil ProClean Stain Fighter both scored the highest at 84. Tide Simply Clean & Fresh scored a 38 overall. Xtra (Plus OxiClean), for example, the cheap detergent you can buy at the dollar store, scored a 37. This is still a good deal at this price, so not knocking the deal... just advising that Tide Simply is just not even on the same level as the better Tides and Persil detergents. As an FYI - Costco's Kirkland (that goes on sale often) scored a 76 and CR gave it a Best Buy. If you're looking for the best deal for high quality detergent, it's probably going to be Costco's Kirkland Signature.

I've used the Tide Free & Gentle - it cleans fine - although my clothes don't get anywhere near as dirty as kids' clothes do.
I bought the unscented Tide Simply; will see how it goes. 1.90 after coupon, summer20 discount, and tax added.
