this was a ymmv a couple months ago but now seems to be consistent across the country. online sold out but my hero local stores as of today had more than 10 each.
store price is only $699 (hundred less than online), then minus $100 to make it $599.
I like this too box a lot except they two of the wheels are stationary which is really annoying and pisses me off. if anyone has a solution to getting those two wheels replaced with fully rotational wheels please advise.
I love you all and I love Costco.

Not sure if the USG set is that much nicer or not, but it better be for a 38% higher price.
$500 USG bottom: https://www.harborfreig
$330 USG top: https://www.harborfreig
The 44" US general at HF is $499 same price as this costco one BUT its only the bottom section no top chest. If you want to add the top chest is $329
so $828 vs $499. If you wait on blackfriday for ref. HF had $50 off the 44" making it $450. IIRC no sale for the top chest. so its still about $800.
The costco torin is very nicely built. Only con is no included power strip but the top chest has a nice pass through to easily put one in there. the drawers soft close.
If you can get it in store for $499 its probably the best value in terms of waht you get and quality.
But $600 online might still put people on the fence. But $499 no brainer, unlikely to get anything better

The only thing nicer about the US General HF is the included liners. But thats so minor and irrelevant that it shouldnt even count, including it being 44" compared to 42"
The HF US general also does NOT so close which is more a huge deal than a liner as liners can easily be replaced.
This Costco one does have a liner but its more like a foam type. it soft closes, and its THE SAME PRICE for both top and bottom chest (if you buy it locally at $499) while the HF US general is $500 for bottom and $340 for the top yet it is inferior in quality and features
This tool chest locally at the costco warehouse for $499 is best for the price for sure
The US General has many things that I prefer over the Torin. Although it's personal preference, the number one thing I like is the drawer lay-out. The Torin has 15 drawers compared to 21 drawers on the US General. Although having a couple deep drawers is nice, unless you are storing a ton of large tools (ie in cases etc.), shallow drawers are typically more advantageous for general hand tools. Again, the volume is similar but more drawers adds surface area and the US General has roughly 33% more drawer surface area to store tools. The US General can be purchased in several colors and can be fully accessorized with things in the matching color including end cabinet or lockers. Oh and the powder coat finish on the US General is nicer than what is on the Torin. Now go look at the weight and the weight capacities of the Torin vs. the US General... US general weighs more than the Torin and you can tell when comparing the two. Oh and those soft close drawers on a tool boxes suck... but the US General 44" drawer detents also suck. Lastly the drawer liners on both units aren't great.
Again, go compare them, the Torin is a GREAT deal but the US General definitely has some differences that may or may not be appealing. I'm not saying to buy one over the other but someone asked how the Torin "compared" against the US General and my opinion is that the US General IS quite a bit nicer.
Because I don't use my tools for a living, I decided to try the Torin. I was a little disappointed that it didn't come with any power management, but a quick trip to HF solved that and the placement made the cord nearly invisible. I also added a magnetic-mount paper towel dispenser for my shop towels. In all, I love the deep drawers that it has - perfect for power tools and sets. I also have enough space in there now to buy more stuff (wife isn't as excited about that as I am).
The handles on the torin are cheap plastic, with rolled metal lip: nothing to hold a label for what tools are located where. Wheels look cheap too.
The shelves seem to all be lined with the cheap anti skid padding.
