Save yourself the headache of having to replace the cheap junk you bought on Amazon over and over again and just buy this. Quality is important when it comes to safe food handling. Why throw your money away on poorly built, unreliable imitations? Just get a good quality product and be done with it.
Thanks! Finally caved and bought it. I was always put off of their sales because of the shipping charge. But finally went for it because it looks like they're hinting at releasing a new version.
This thermometer is so well made and so well received I was worried the update would be worse. Could go the way of Anova. Where quality suffers and they try to add some wifi connection or something crazy. Might as well buy the item that's known to be the perfect thermometer.

My thoughts exactly 100%. I ended up ordering this as well.

Got an email from them this morning confirming the mk4 is closing out and there is a replacement that will be announced by the end of June. As others have said, I don't see them adding anything that is actually going to make it more reliable in quality or that I'd miss so if you've been waiting then now is the time to get one of these.

I have the older model and I bought my parents the Mk4. They did introduce the non-disk battery, which was a nice touch. However, they could possibly add a mid-range calibration adjustment, which would be awesome to change it to three-point
Check out their sales and closeout sections also. They sometimes sell pocket thermometers for cheap. I got a 600D model they were closing out for like $20. Takes 5-6 sec. readings, has a 5-year warranty. It's not a thermapen but it was a good cheaper compromise imo.
Has anyone taken the plunge on the 'upgraded' Thermoworks One and can provide some perspective on the MK4 vs One? I've read the 'pro' reviews on the internet and they seem like paid testimonials to try and coax happy MK4 owners into feeling insecure and buying the One. And I fear I'd become one of those suckers unless I heard from actual normal users not to waste my incremental $36.
I've got two Thermoworks Wands in my cart... and the One. All my other IR thermometers have been cheaper Slickdeals purchases from Amazon (Lava tools, ThermoPro, etc). The One is not 'that' much more than the MK4 ($105 vs $69 with this one - what's the difference... three ThermoPros?). Not that I need the one second readout or +/- 0.5 degree accuracy of the One... or even the 2-3 second readout and +/- 0.7 degree accuracy on the MK4, but who doesn't like to know they have the best for no real reason at all? Not even something I'd brag about as my friends and family would use it to confirm I'm nuts. Just for me to know.

Thanks in advance.
EDIT:
I just went ahead and bought the One.
Hey wanted to follow up and check how much you like the new Thermapen One. Worth the money?
