Not sure if this is Dice's or EA's strategy, but after playing BF online multiplayer since the beginning version (1942), it seems that they intentionally allow cheaters to run unopposed shortly before the next new release. You therefore find that you have to wait in the queue of actively managed clan servers and wait 15-60 minutes in the queue to join, or financially support the clan server so you can play against non-cheaters on a game you-already-paid-for.
If you want online multiplayer, this model is broken/obsolete, don't support it by buying the product.
There are plenty of play for free products out there, where you only buy skins/quips/dances/etc which in no way give you an advantage over others or people who spend money an advantage over you.
