It adds an 8-10 hour bit of side story, more characters, costumes, items, and more to the game. The more times you play through the game (since you get to pick one house per playthrough), the more benefit you'll get from the DLC.

In short: Yes.

walmart listed game + dlc for $24.99, sent everyone only dlc codes (we all knew this would happen), then walmart refunded everyone and said sorry and to keep your dlc codes.

but $17.49 is good price for those that don't have it, just saying that walmart one was a great slickdeal!

I haven't tried it myself, but my understanding is that physical games from different regions generally work fine with digital DLC.

I need to go back to this game. I put over 100 hours into just the 1st path alone plus the dlc. Need to do the other story paths.

The original Fire Emblem games from SNES ( actually Super Famicom) were never released in the US but they have has now been translated from the Japanese quite well by fans . I think there are 3 games in the 1990s series that came very late in the SNES cycle. I only have had time to play a little of one of them and the game is amazingly complex and seems even better than the stellar reviews you read. I don't think Nintendo has released any of the original Fire Emblem games on Switch so if you like Fire Emblem now and you want the full context for the series then look for them on Switch and if they are not there then download the translated ROMs.

I greatly enjoyed this DLC.
The campaign was legitimately difficult and I appreciated it for fleshing out the story.

Did you enjoy the basic game content of playing a terribly cringey high school anime sim?
Isn't any high school, real or fake, cringey?
