Check out Vacuum Wars on YouTube. Guy does an incredible job:

FYI it's cheaper to buy from WalMart if you are charged sales tax because the tax is applied to the full price on Amazon before the coupon amount is deducted. If you add a protection plan the whole gross amount is taxed on Amazon as well, while there is no additional tax with WalMart for adding a protection plan -- which WalMart has for $34 for 3 years instead of $49.99 with Amazon.

Amazon total w/ 3-year plan - $378.58
WalMart w/ 3-year plan - $362.59
Big fan of the product but the app is sketchy af.

Roomba still does not have lidar? That alone is why I wouldn't buy it.. if they have added that since then it is a decent vac

Lidar or nothing. This Is the way
That's some ridiculous logic there. Lidar isn't the only solution to mapping. There are tons of robot vacuums without lidar and still have mapping unless you need absolute precision to get around your dirty underwear on the floor.

Roomba sucks so bad. Even after mapping, it keeps on bumping into things

Nope.. that sht sucks

Bumps into everything, uses camera which needs you to have your lights on or vacuum only during daylight only...

The only thing Roomba is top notch for (vacuuming with enough light) is probably carpets and the auto empty bin... But you pay dearly for this

Again Roomba sux, Lidar or nothing

S6 Pure is $359.99 with coupon on Amazon if anyone is looking for mopping feature: https://www.amazon.com/Pure-Multi...th=1&psc=1

I do like the mopping feature, it doesn't save you from mopping, but it does do a good enough job that you don't have to mop as often.
Thanks for the call out. We'd been tickling the idea of buying a smart vacuum but weren't sure what the best value unit would be. Went ahead and picked the S6 up for the mopping feature. Hoping it does well with pet hair, too.

I have S5 with moping feature and hardly use it. Also, mopping is so weak and didn't do a good job. I would go for an S4 Max for wood/tile floor.

I ended up getting a renewal from Walmart w/ 3-year protection plan for less than the new one. Look at my previous post showing WalMart is slightly cheaper -- especially if you're buying a protection plan. I previously bought an E4 refurb and it was in near perfect condition, so I expect this to be the same. All of the listings on Walmart and Amazon are fulfilled by the manufacturer, so there isn't any gamble by going through one site over another.
Do you feel like the protection plan is a must? I've never really considered them but we've never owned a robot vac so I don't know what an expected timeframe is. Do you expect them to break or malfunction? What is the common issue these things face?

I really don't know what to expect, but was happy that the protection plan for the renewed one was cheap and I didn't know if the battery had been run down. From what I've read the most common issues people run into are sensor failure, brush motor failure, and battery degradation. Most companies guarantee a 3 year battery life, so I wanted to have the plan in case my cheaper refurbs have batteries with ~50% battery life left or so.

we bought S4max 2 months ago from Amazon for the same price. 310$ before tax. And also S5 max - we returned the S5max (mopping functionality was a joke). But for tile, carpet and wooden flooring S4 max is a great investment - we def like this one.

Absolutely a must for smart vacuums, imo. All of the dust and bumping around is rough on the little computers in them.

Does Roborock model numbers describe different generations of the same product, or simply distinguish the models?

For example, Neato has the D3, D5, D7 and these describe different models, not newer generations of the same model.

Anyhow, I just saw a vacuumwars video on the Roborock S7 and it looks like the best for my needs given combo carpet and hard floors (mopping function).

How well does it deal with obstacles e.g., toys, small boxes lying around?

I opted for the S6 Pure since it's half the price of the S7. I just don't know if I can justify $650 for one of these puppies.

Yeah, I'm certainly not dropping that kind of money on a robovacuum. I've owned 3x Neatos, 2x Roombas, and a Scooba and never paid more than about $240 for any of them.

If the Roborock is as good as reviews say though, I can sell everything and consolidate. I'll wait for a sale on the S7. Having a bot that can vacuum and mop on the same mission sounds pretty good to me.
