If you buy from the Nintendo eShop, the game (or DLC) is automatically added to your virtual library. If you want to purchase the game "digitally" from a third-party non-Nintendo retailer like Amazon or Walmart, the way this is handled through digital redemption codes. You buy the item through the 3rd party and get a code, then enter that code in your Nintendo account, so that Nintendo knows you have purchased the rights to download and play that game.

Buying it from Nintendo directly, the amount of "Gold Coins" (points) you are rewarded is based on the dollar amount (in this case, 13.99 which somehow equates to 70 gold coins). When buying it from a third party like Amazon or Walmart, Nintendo doesn't know what dollar amount you paid, so it awards you "Gold Coins" based on the MSRP of that game. I think.

$.99 cheaper than getting it direct from the eshop. But if you claim a code from amazon or walmart, you usually get the gold coins equivalent to the full $20 price. So this is an ever so slightly better deal than the eshop deal.
I have a Nintendo Switch and Breath of the Wild. I'm out of the loop, what do you mean by "claim a code from Amazon or walmart" and get gold coins?

I really wanted to like Breath of the Wild but the Achilles heel of the game are the weapons constantly breaking and it completely ruined it for me.
I had the same problem when I started, and also felt like I didn't know where to go once I got off the initial peninsula. However, once I gave it a bit more time and just explored and learned the mechanics more, it quickly became one of my all-time favorite games. Bombs are also a great solution for your early weapon problems since they are unlimited.

I got this at launch... played it for about 10 hours and 2 devine beasts beat I stopped. I got sad because I am a huge zelda fan and that was 2 games in a row I didn't care about finishing.
The following winter was bad so I decided to start playing it again. After that I dont know what clicked but after 390 hours in the game and near 100% complete I now consider it the Greatest Video game of all time.

There's a shrine visible from the Great Plateau that has some great weapons.

Also, unlike in previous Zelda games, you're not getting rupees or hearts from monsters. Sure, you get some monster parts, but those aren't too helpful for awhile. So sometimes the best way to use weapons is to....not. Just avoid confrontation until you have something good. Or go Rambo and use the environment to your advantage.

Progress further into the game and eventually there is somewhat of a remedy for this. Look it up for more info.
The Master sword isn't that much of an improvement since it runs out of energy and you have to wait for it to recharge.

Once you expand your Weapon Stash, weapons breaking isn't that big of a deal. Plus once you get the master sword fully upgraded through the trial of the sword, it can deal 188 hits before it needs charging. There's also some glitches that allow you to duplicate weapons if you wanna get into that territory, so you can essentially have a bunch of super powerful weapons at the ready.

For anyone on the fence about the game, I bought it in 2018, played it for a couple hours, got bored, then didn't touch it again until earlier this year. My gf and I started playing it in January and have now put in over 400 hours on it. It is now my number one Zelda game, with A Link to the Past being a very closed 2nd.

Just a heads up that if you're in California don't buy the expansion pass from Walmart. They are incorrectly charging tax on it, which for me brought the total up to $14.70. In California digital redemption codes do not qualify for sales tax, and it really bugs me when a retailer doesn't comply with that. It's like the one thing we get in our favor as far as taxes are concerned in CA. Went with Target instead.

Yes, do not give up on the game. It reminds me a little of RE4 where the beginning is the most difficult part of the game. I died a few times in the first 50 hours, but don't think I died in the next 450. You basically become a deadly tank with enough time in.

Get good at beating the Hinox early on as they have good weapons. Then get good at beating the Lynel. Lynel's could be tough and are intimidating for sure, but learn the patterns and try to stay relatively close to them as dodging their attacks is key. Don't stay far away or they will pepper you with arrows.

Use Korok seeds for weapon inventory slots and you'll never have weapon problems. You'll actually need to make decisions on which great weapons to leave behind.

Anyone quitting the game early on is making a mistake. This game should be on everyone gamer's top 10 list.

correct, I redeemed it from amazon yesterday and got 100 reward points (equal to a dollar) which is higher than the 70 reward points listed on the eshop.
eshop GC is easily 12% off . $0.99 and $.3 gold coin diff is about the same
