Home Depot has put those kits (M12 Fuel vacuum + included M12 6.0Ah XC battery and charger) on the seasonal aisles for around a month or so and has now reduced the price by $30. store pickup where available, personally I don't see a ship to home option. this is a good deal, considering that the bare tool is $129, you are basically getting a 6.0Ah battery and a charger for $20

I'm using it with the 4.0 and the 6.0 and it's great. It's lightweight which is the most important thing and much much quieter than anything else that I've used. Heck, it's quieter than the typical handheld home cordless vacuums. So it's great for little cleanups, e.g. cutting drywall for outlet and clean up quickly, drill concrete patio and cleanup quickly, cut baseboard in the house and cleanup quickly, you see where I'm going with this. Having said that, I managed to do a quick sweep of 500sqft floor + stairs and still had plenty of 4.0 battery left. If someone is looking to substitute their corded dry/wet vac, they're fooling themselves, either in 12V or 18/20V platforms. But the convenience won't be beat in any way.
Same size hose. 51cfm for bosch. 50cfm for milwaukee.

4.0ah at 18v is same run time (technically energy) as 6.0ah at 12v.

So really does come down to other things like form factor or if you want to invest in a particular battery platform.
The 12V Milwaukee has more cfm than the 20V Dewalt.

50cfm vs. 33cfm

Dewalt doesn't list suction but same size hose.

The problem with the Milwaukee m12 1.6G vacuum is not a master of anything. Even at low speed, the battery life is still mediocre. When you put it on high, it tends to over draw the battery causing it to shut down. You'd be lucky if you can use a 2Ah battery and use it straight for 2 minutes on high without overheating. It usually overheats it before it drains it at 3 minute mark. Check out the reviews and you will see that other than the mediocre runtime, you will also see intermittent shutdown due to battery overheating. Overheating your battery regularly it going to shorten the battery life.
This isn't the M12 with a 2ah battery.

It's the M12 Fuel with a 6ah battery.

Even with 6ah, the runtime is mediocre. You are lucky to get 10-12 mins.

If you are going to get a cordless shop vac, get the M18 or Rigid.

Even if that were true, it is still plenty of time to clean up the little messes that this vac is intended for.

If you need to clean your whole shop, get a big plug-in model.
If you need to clean your whole house, get a dyson.

If you need to clean up the mess after making a hinge mortise, putting in an outlet, or similar small indoor task, a little vacuum like this is great.

Just to give some feedback from someone who has owned it.

I had the m12 vacuum m18 standard and m18 pack out. I ended up with the m18 standard.

If you're on the m12 platform and plan on sticking with the m12 then I say go for it, the suction is very comparable to the m18 standard and pack out. The only reason I didn't want it is because the m12 drains much faster than the m18. The m12 is much quieter though on low. On high I would say it's like 20% quieter than the m18 standard on high.

Another big reason I went with m18 standard was because of the size, the m12 is maybe like 15% smaller than the m18 it's about just as tall and a bit more narrow. So based on my personal situation I have like 7 m18 batteries, the standard 5.0xc will last like over 20 mins with the m18 standard. Also the m18 has a longer hose. I have a bunch of m12 batteries but mostly the little ones 2.0.

And if you're curious about the pack out that one was the biggest let down, I sold my m18 standard to a family member before I even got my m18 pack out In the mail lol big mistake. I had to rebuy the standard m18 but that's before I tried out the m12. The pack out is much heavier, no noticeable increase in power same noise level, maybe louder. The ONLY reason I would want a pack out is for the pack out system. Other than that it's a loser for me in every way.

But over all advice I would 1000% recommend anyone who is interested in a cordless vacuum like this to get one I have so many Milwaukee tools and the vacuum is probably one of my top tools I regretted NOT buying years ago. Super convenient with the power and suction of corded, great tool!

Yes that is the only purpose. A vacuum for quick cleanup which any cheap vacuum can do.

What I was explaining is the purpose of each vacuum. The Dewalt 2 gallon seem to get no love in here just because of its lower suction power. Like I said, the Dewalt was built on a particular purpose in mind... it was made for endurance or very long runtime but penalize by lower suction power. The purpose of the Dewalt vacuum is the vacuum you bring anywhere (outside the shop) where there is no power outlet. You directly attach this vacuum to your tool (miter, router, circular saw, handheld planer etc) and let it run continuously since it can run for long and doesn't overheat like the M12 vac.

Don't get it wrong, the Dewalt may have lower suction power but it still can suck shavings of wood, small nails, and what not.

OK, so your DeWalt is apparently intended for use as a long running dust extractor and that's just fine and dandy.

That is not what this little M12 vacuum is designed for. Choose the right tool for the job instead of dissing one because it is not right for the job that you are doing.

And that's the thing, you can use any cheap vacuum for the intended job of this M12 vac. I am just speaking like a true cheap SlickDealer.

Curious, but where did you find this information? I love the M12 line and was really excited when the fuel vacuum came out. I bought it at release, however I had to return it because the unit shut down every 10-15 seconds with a new 4.0 XC battery. It's a shame because I liked the size, I already am deep in the M12 ljne, and it had decent power... when it worked. If Milwaukee really fixed this, I'd give it another try.

You could use a whisk broom and dust pan.

Hard to plug in those M12 batteries though...

Several reports on tool channels, forums, etc. Here is a short one that summarizes the situation https://youtu.be/ls0mwwGLZ0E , and you could always check yourself with a Milwaukee rep at Home Depot or call them. I've owned it for a month, use it rather often with several batteries and did not have any issue with it
