CalyxOS.org was a real eye-opener for me. It's a perfect pairing for this phone. I have it on both a P3 and P4. Welcome any questions.

EDIT: does not work on Verizon unlocked
What do you mean doesn't work on Verizon unlocked? They can tell it's unlocked and won't let it connect to their service?!
That sucks, I want a degoogled phone and thought the pixels might be a good option.

Where did that date come from? When I search I see that unlimited full quality photos ended on May 31st.

So it might not work on this phone. I would not be surprised when a phone is not advertised as being bootloader unlockable that it is a verizon phone with the unlockable bootloader which means Lineageos, CalyxOS, etc.

Though perhaps some who is interested will call and ask.

Not worth it. This stops receiving updates in December of this year.
Every time someone rushes to say this.

A lot of phones don't receive updates for that long, why is it held against this particular phone? People recommend phones all the time that never got an update after that.

It's not the end of the world when you stop getting OS updates. I'm not gonna pay $500 more to get a newer phone that will be supported for a year longer.

Now the important question: is the bootloader on this one unlocked? The verizon-branded ones aren't, and the rest are, correct? Anyone know which one this is?

Edit: Pixel 3 is not verizon, Pixel 3 XL is.

What does that mean. Does it mean in three years I won't be able to use it? How long would this phone last?
If you just use your phone as a phone, then the lack of security updates probably won't matter to you when Google stops supporting the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL later this year. Your phone will keep operating as a phone until it breaks down or battery fails.

However, if you use any banking apps or make any purchases by phone ... or if you're concerned about someone hacking your contacts list ... or if you're just generally paranoid about spyware being installed on your mobile device ... then you would have cause for concern about your device's integrity.

I purchased a Pixel 3 "Not Pink" (Verizon version) a couple of months ago. It replaced my (destroyed) Pixel 3XL. I'm very happy with the purchase. I find the form factor to be much more convenient, battery life is better, front firing speakers are superior, and performance is noticeably snappier. I don't consume much media nor do any gaming, so I don't miss the 3XL's larger screen at all. As to the support end date - I'm taking a wait and see attitude. We'll see what happens, when it actually happens. I'm sure that there will be a whole lot of fallout, from hacks to trades, dealing with the situation.

Good deal. Just bought from woot and got android 11

You will get Android 12 as well. I already have the beta version of 12 on mine. I wouldn't recommend entering the beta program on your daily phone yet though. It's very cool, but too buggy for a daily phone.

I'm still using my first gen Pixel #1 just fine. Only the battery is not holding up for more than a day but not a deal breaker enough to upgrade. He just means he thinks the phones not worth it because he probably has never had a older phone and doesn't realize that you will be able to use it pretty much until it physically breaks.
If you are worried about security then an unsupported phone is not for you. I have a few original Pixel XLs and they are used principally for photo/video backup only. They are wifi only.

I really don't care about OS support. They are workhorses. I'm looking for a clean way to build them into the wall so they can become touchpads for smart house, Google devices, Alexa. Leverage them beyond just the front end to Google Photos.

On the battery, you can replace them for about $30 with a local service. None of mine have needed that yet, but I know people who had to.

The post original Pixels only provide better hardware at the cost of no full upload for life. Still have a few months with the 3s. Then you only get high quality uploads for free.
