Interested to see if you can add a Trade-in on the web (save 20% and currently offering $30 more for my last generation 10" Fire Tablet) and then order with Alexa?
It looks like you can still load the Google Play Store on this new version of the tablet:

I mostly use mine for consuming content bought on Amazon. Prime Video, Audible and a ton of paid apps that were free back in the long gone era of the Free App per Day for their app store. Kindle books with lots of graphics work better than on my Paperwhite.
Alexa, order a Denim Fire HD 10 Tablet.
Alexa, order a Olive Fire HD 10 Tablet.
Alexa, order a Lavender Fire HD 10 Tablet.

I also have an iPad Air. The fire is a quarter of the price but even making allowances for the price difference, the Amazon tablet is a disappointment. The base iPad is also much better.
I spent my first 24 hours with the 10+ very disappointed in the device. It was incredibly slow to come online with whatever updates Amazon sent its way. I bought at launch - arrived after pre-order - so maybe that contributed to the issues. There were also problems with Alexa & I didn't warm up to the size changes. Plus, it is an absolute fingerprint magnet like no other tablet I've ever used before now.
I used my last gen 10 almost daily to consume streaming content. I only occasionally read on it & rarely browsed or shopped on that device. For streaming, it was (still is) my favorite device. Sound & picture are great. The new device also has great sound & picture but seems a little laggy with streaming so I've just decided to keep my previous gen for that purpose.
For this device, I've found I enjoy reading on it. I do a lot of writing from reports & reviewing primary sources & the 10+ is convenient for me to access multiple documents quickly & still be able to see it when my eyes get tired. For my purposes, it is great but I don't think I will ever prefer it as a streaming device. I much prefer the last gen's wider screen.
Compared to the iPad air, none of my other devices really come close but I haven't asked them to try the same tasks. I do a lot of note taking with the pencil. I've done adobe creative cloud stuff. I've done a lot of document prep & sending & finishing. The Air takes a lot of abuse & almost always can keep up with whatever I ask of it.
That being said, I still prefer to watch streaming on the last gen K10. It is perfect for my needs. I'm going to keep the 10+ & use it for reading but I don't think I would want to pay the full price. I have no experience with the new K10 but I would still pay $80 for the last gen even today. That's how much I recommend it.

This would be basically $20 to upgrade, as last gen should go for $60 in mint condition with the box.
Just asking if I should bother or not.
At this price I would not hesitate to buy this tablet. We have two tablets from 2019 that we LOVE and use all the time.
Of course use Amazon tool box. I would get THIS TABLET for a kid without any hesitation.
And realize that you missed out on a Samsung S7 Tab for $200ish the other day.

I am not upgrading... SAME CPU!!!
Do you find it lacking?
I downloaded the app "KILLAPPS" from the play store and I run it every so often... I find it really helped keep my tablet running like it was brand new.
Sure more RAM would make things "slightly" smoother and will allow for more multitasking. But I would not do the upgrade just for more RAM.
