Realize.. HD 8 has a much lower CPU. The HD10 is a huge upgrade to the HD8 in raw power.
I knew there was a difference but not that it was a big one. Good to know! My 8 is a little laggy but I use it for basic music and media, and I'm not unhappy with it. As long as this 10 is a similar build quality I'll be really happy.

Does anyone know if this deal will continue tomorrow? Not a big deal, but I'd like to get the extra 1% back for using Prime Store Card if possible. Thx.

Edit: nevermind, I see on the order page is says, "Ends in 2 days" so I think we're good.

I went ahead and purchased the Amazon HD 10 tablet for $79.99. The HD 10 Plus showed up for 109.99 also $70 off but I don't think its worth it.

Basically, the HD 10 Plus is $30 more money than the HD 10. For that $30 you get three things:
A. 1 more GB of ram
B. slate back
C. wireless charging

For a tablet that is only $80 its hard to pay almost 40% more for those three things. Perhaps if the HD 10 Plus had a better processor it might be worth the price difference. But since the processor is the same, I don't think the HD 10 Plus is worth the extra money.

Yeah, you should be good. Typically on these Amazon devices, they'll run the sale throughout the duration of Prime Days.

The plus is available for $70 off too. And the deal no longer requires using an Alexa enabled device if you have prime.

Has anyone tried to get a trade in credit retroactively? Thinking about buying it at 80 and then asking a CS to credit me the trade in amount after it appears on my account.

Yeah I chatted with a rep in getting me the 20% discount retroactively. They were happily giving me a courtesy credit of the 20% amount for any item sold by amazon.com. I ended up getting the regular fire 10 since I won't be using it for any productivity purposes.

Thanks. Did you get credit instantly or do you have to wait for them to receive the device?

There is a reason. 1. BUILD QUALITY 2. CPU POWER (even the best android in the world that sells for $1k does not beat the processing power of apple. 3. Apps.. apple suppose to have the best apps 4. UPDATES... apple updates are about 9 years... INCREADABLE!!!! 5. Apple Eco System.
all that might be good, if you completely ignore the price tag and all the restrictions placed on a device that you allegedly purchased. vertical integration may yield better hardware and software integration but unless you reduce the price the competition would eventually catch up as technology matures.

the reality is that apple is using same model of business that does not work long term. initially apple had majority of PC market shares and today they are an insignificant player. at the start of smartphone apple had the majority market share and today Android has about 80% domination.

i view apple as tesla, unless i can buy the parts from Autozone you will not see me owning a tesla. ironically, i do own apple and tesla stocks . . . and they have payed of quite nicely (thanks to the fans). the deference however that today tesla is a monopoly in a way and it is on it's way up, and apple on the other hand is on it's way down.

I'd argue that the Fire HD is almost as locked down. The proprietary Android based OS is flat out terrible. Difference is I'm only paying 80 bucks for it instead of 300+.

i have both and the 3GB is a better value. You will not notice any difference at all.
