Why would anyone buy this over 65 OLED lg
There are plenty of reasons to go with something like this over OLED. Main reason would be brightness. This set will get significantly brighter than an OLED. OLED still can't hit the standard for proper HDR. For mixed day/night usage this is a better tv. If you want something for a dedicated dark room then sure go OLED.

The LG CX OLED is a better TV for most uses than the Samsung Q90 QLED, though the Q90 still performs excellent overall. The LG has perfect blacks thanks to its OLED panel and has excellent viewing angles and better motion handling. It also has much better gray uniformity and has a wider color gamut with more accurate colors out-of-the-box

The 82" 2020 qled was 1600 in Sam's and now it's 1750.. but how much better is a 65" 2021 neo qled at a similar price point compared to it. Anyone with personal experience comparing them side by side. Thanks in advance.. I will just be watching TV and movies in the basement. I still own a 9 years old 65" 1080p samsung. I think I would like a bigger size TV.. also I do have an old 42" Panasonic plasma from 2007 that's still fantastic to look at. I like the colors etc much better than the OLED that I have. the led picture looks very fake IMHO.. after a lot of calibration. the animated sure looks better on the led. how do these tvs compare to the old ones

Not even the same class. This tv uses a mini LED back light that gives near OLED contrast and blacks. I've seen it in person, it looks very good.

anyone able to get it to $1500? Someone on page of the post implied that was possible or I misread this.

Update: I realized this is due to cancellation (ymmv) which gives 5% discount and for new accounts using a referral coupon code

Lol what? You just copied the content from rtings and took out the T after Q90T which isn't the same set as this. You also didn't finish your copy and paste with the benefits of the Q90T listed. I know you like to make your decisions from the Best Buy show room floor, but I think this is what you were looking for:

The LG C1 OLED and the Samsung QN90A QLED are both excellent TVs, but they use different panels. The LG is an OLED with a near-infinite contrast ratio, nearly instant response time, and wide viewing angles. The Samsung has a VA panel, so it still has an excellent contrast ratio, but its viewing angles are only decent. OLEDs don't get as bright as LED TVs, and the Samsung uses Mini LED backlighting, allowing it to get exceptionally bright and making it better suited to very bright rooms.

I just got the QN9DA which I think is just this years model of it and I am pretty sure all 4 HDMI are 2.1. I am trying to verify but I can't find my manual right now.
Only 1 HDMI port is 2.1 in the USA. In certain other countries it's 4

After placing my order, I chose the option to cancel the tv. They gave me an additional 5% refund by selecting a competitor has it for a better price.

Perhaps people are concerned with burn-in. Still a "thing", especially if you're gaming a lot, leave the TV on channels with fixed graphics, etc. People can and will argue that the problem is either overstated or understated, but it IS something to be wary of.
LG Oled is designed to handle gaming just fine. Unless you are playing gaming or a news channel like 12 hours a day endlessly, it's unlikely you see burning. Even still, I have read some random reports that LG is pretty lenient with its standard warranty and will agree to replace your display once for free if it gets burn in within first few years. It still makes sense to get an extended warranty when buying a TV this expensive to cover the burn in just in case. Furthermore, the C9 65 that I have was a Best Buy floor model that had 4500 hours already on it. I'm now at 7k hours after more than a year of ownership and no issues. Still looks as sharp as the newer floor models.

Like any TV, taking care of it is important. Oled is more sensitive to sunlight since it is organic so obviously don't put in some room that gets very hot or direct sunlight through the windows. Otherwise, you'll be fine.

I see this on the Samsung website:

Utilize NextGen TV (ATSC 3.0) technology to access high-quality, free 4K TV content with built-in tuners in your Samsung TV.
