FWIW, I also got that Hisense 65" last Black Friday. It was borderline unusable. Android TV sucked and even using built-in TV functions sucked. It eventually completely froze on me and stopped responding. So I did a full factory reset and this time did not configure Android TV at all and did not connect it to the internet. Since then, it's been totally fine. I plan to do this for all Hisense TVs going forward. It really does seem like the hardware is fine but the software sucks.

Last holidays I tried to get those 65" TVs for $200 but target restocks didn't offer delivery and when bestbuy came in stock never were available in my area. Maybe similar deal on prime day pops up or wait till next Black Friday sales. Currently using 55" hisense roku that's bought on Black Friday 2019, no issues but wouldn't mind upgrading

These TVs are crap, please buy samsung, lg or sony. I have one of these TVs much higher model but looks cheaply made. If the price is more then 75% off then lg, Samsung, sony then probably it may be worth for some people.
Just my thought.

I'm in the market to buy a 65" TV for ~$500... I'm sure there are many people here with the same goal. Can anyone suggest which models would be best to buy if we see some price drops this week or on Black Friday? It seems like the LG UP7000/UP8000, Samsung Class 7/8, TCL 5/6 series, are some that are getting closer to the $500 mark.

Warning to all like minded cheapskates: I'd never recommend a android tv to my worst enemy. Roku hands down blows this garbage out of the water. Androids lag lag lag and always never ever get updates to fix the slow crap. Trust I've owned every damn one only to slap myself after trying the cheapest damn roku tv at Walmart. TCL does Airplay and android cast like wtf why mess with any android bs crap. Only reason I did was for IPTV. 24 dollar fire stick when needing that. Regardless Now everyone of my tech aws guys own TCL rokus

My TCL Roku is a laggy mess that restarts itself and locks up all the time.

PS: You don't have to use the OS that comes with the TV, that's what TV sticks are for.

Hisense is a China company, but these might be made in Mexico (they own Sharp's old plant down there)
