You can get the z6 with FTZ, NEW for $1494
Vs, Refurbished z6 with FTZ for $1343.... $150 new.
The z5 with FTZ is $1100 NEW.... Dang
Another thing to note: when the Z6 came out initially; there was no where near as many z lenses to actually take advantage of the new system. Now there is a good bit more though no third party support (I.e no sigma z mounts, etc) which sucks.
If you are an enthusiast or serious hobbyist the Z6 should meet all your needs (and probably then some except for fast sports/wildlife). If you are a pro or want to become one. I do recommend saving more for the Z6II for the reasons stated.

I think the Z50 should meet all my requirements and it is much easier to carry for travel. Z50 would also allow me to upgrade to Z6II or whatever is newer in a few years while keeping the Z lens useful. So I bought the refurb Z50 with lens kit.

I didn't invest too much on Canon lens for my T4i, so I am totally fine switching to Nikon

As to a vertical grip, if it had one, I would not be buying it.

So I bought this from Beach Camera: https://www.beachcamera
Note that it is not a refurb but a full brand new camera.

I purchased the Z7 refurb from Adorama in April 2020 for $2,292 camera only (at the time the refurb lens was going for $300 as a kit but I already have the lens from the Z6 kit when it first came out) and it had a very light scratch on the display. I put the 3" temper glass over it and you can't tell. The camera has been working great and I have no complaint other than the slight scratch and it was by far the lowest price for the camera at that time. The point on refurb is that you don't know what you will get and it's the luck of the draw.
