I have been using these as my daily drivers for teaching remotely since March 2020. I always forget how good they are for music and movies until I use them again for that, because they're so comfortable for that sort of purpose. They're very loose-fitting, so wouldn't be good in a crowded environment, but would be great for home use. There's a reason they've been around so long. I'd pick up another pair, but mine are still in excellent shape.
Best open back headphones under 120$ no debate. Add to cart and keep it moving.
SHP9500 + Vmoda Boom Pro = best FPS gaming headphone combo for any console or PC for sub $200. Also probably the most comfortable headphones stock.

I own the AD700X with modmic and the SHP9500 with vmoda boom pro. Don't buy a knockoff vmoda boom pro for half the price; they all break in a month, trust me I tried. The legit vmoda boom pro has been running strong since 2018. My wife abuses the hell out of it and uses them as her xbox console cans. They're a lot of fun when directional sound matters such as Dead by Daylight or any FPS game ever.

They also work great on Oculus Quest 2 as replacement speakers. Fit great with the quest 2 stock configuration with a short 3 foot 3.5mm cable.

Once you own them go to: https://github.com/jaakkopasanen/...%20SHP9500

Install AutoEq and follow the instructions on how to use software to equalize them. This is for PC users only, not console. Sorry.

Bought these 1week ago here on SD cause of the hype. I'm returning them because their lack of bass. Kinda bummed. Mids are excellent though, and they are very light and comfortable

Gotta agree with you. Also I have to throw in that I have both these and the more expensive Philips X2HR, and I prefer the SHP9500 by a mile. Way more comfortable and I just enjoy the sound profile more. For $56 this is a no-brainer

I've had my pair since 2015 and can confirm that (for the price), these are the most-accurate sounding and comfortable pair of headphones I own.

In fact, I was just gifted a backup pair during the previous $60 something sale and, when compared to my old set, found two things very interesting...

1. Out of the box the highs are a bit harsh and the soundstage a bit muddy on the low end, but after about a 10 hour burn-in the highs are getting warmer and the soundstage opening up, so I'm thinking they'll match my old pair soon.

2. The headband is made of metal and I didn't realize just how snug a new band is until I wore them for a few hours and ended up with a headache. Again, based on the old pair, I know it's just a matter of time, as I can wear my old pair all day and forget I have them on.

So on the chance you find that the sound is just a bit "off," give them time, as they will get better, the more you use them. Also for those who are curious, I'd say these cans are for those looking for accuracy over flair. If you are looking for punchy bass, you might be better off looking at a good pair of Sony's closed cans (usually for much more).

Though they are a little weak in the bass department I think they are pretty well rounded headphones. If you only want one headphones I recommend paying more and getting the X2. They are not as comfortable but definitely bass heavy if you like that sound profile. I swap between my SHP9500s and my X2s depending on what I am using them for.

If you have Magni/Modi, it will help you out a lot than AutoEq.
Anyway, best of headphone for FPS gaming.
