Where did you place the rs152s? Rear surround or middle surround?

Hoping the double 263 towers and single r12 do shake the walls just a little... Ha
I'm using them as fronts because they sounded better than the older Polk shelfs I was using. Moved the Polks to the rears. it's a frankenstein setup but it works for me.

My setup since last year. Been awesome watching movies

Center - RC263
Front - R162
Side - R152
Rear - RS152
Sub - L12

Don't have much room so the HT chair is close to back wall. RS152 works better for rear due it's non direction omni design.. Have a lot of room on the sides to position the more directional R152.

Thanks for sharing your speaker configuration. How much did it cost for your entire setup?

Anyone have any thoughts on the R253s? I've only ever had a soundbar. (And whenever I purchase from Harman, it's always JBL products)
Any feedback appreciated. Also, any opinon on how much space they take up? I know they are taller, but do you feel like it's too much?
Thoughts? as far how it compares to a soundbar, most people would probably say they would sound/perform better.

As far a "space" here are the Dimensions: H-40 1/8", W-6 7/8", D-12 3/16"

As far as "too much", in sound that's all a personal decision based on many factors.
Too much in size again many factors but big ones are size of your layout/room and how far they are from your seating position.

I would point out you will need to get a receiver, run wires, etc which is more hassle than a soundbar. Whether it's worth it only you can answer that.

I would also point out as webdoctors correctly pointed out, this is all based on "IF they like the sound signature".

If you have never listened to them before, unfortunately none of this talk will answer that for you.
They great thing is Harmon offers free return shipping, that's not a fun task though.

I've been very happy with my infinity 7.1 for the last year. I bought another set of surrounds for zone 3. Great deal, thanks.

How do you deal with wiring? Do you have like a 20 foot wire cable going across the room?

Rs152 vs R152? Is the RS inferior? They look weird.

Separately, thinking of a pair of R263, pair of RS152, and one R12, and center to come later. Would these be good/great for movies? Will be using for movies more than music.
I have the towers in front, the big center, jbls for ceiling and rs152s for back/side. They sound great and project AWESOME with movies. The kbls are the weakest links with a overly bright profile compared to everything else so i turn them down a few decibels and only use them as atmos overhead.

*and like others have surely said they have better/ same specs as the bookshelfs for the most part but are better suited for surround. Only takes 2 screws to hang them.

Please forgive the newb audio question in advance: Can anyone advise how these might work to replace my existing Infinity QPS-1 speakers currently in my REAR positions?
Any advice/ guidance is appreciated.

Just an FYI... I posted this in the other Infinity Reference speaker deal, but if anyone is thinking of jumping in to these speakers and want the RC263 that you see mentioned a lot:

I'd like to mention that I was hesitant about purchasing these towers because I want to pair them with the much-praised RC263, but it is currently OOS on Harman's site. Plus, most other sites list it as discontinued. I spoke with the chat support yesterday about future availability of the RC263. They escalated my question to a L2 Specialist who told me the RC263 is discontinued due to logistical issues..... But, that they would contact me when it comes back in stock.... So, I am still not sure if it will ever come back around or not. I decided to wait and see.

I would point out the RS is not ideal for object based soundtracks, just because of their design.
Upon saying that this is all subjective and there are people that do use them in those setups and believe it works(sounds good) for them.
I have heard this about these speakers a few times and I'm wondering why. What I'm really wondering is what the practical difference is between an object based soundtrack and a 5.1 channel soundtrack as far as how the speakers will perform. I get that the bipole design will make the source of the sound seem broader. So are you really saying that these speakers don't work as well if your setup has more speakers in it?

There a few ways to do it and much depends on placement and how "clean" you want it to look.
Under carpet, under rugs, along the baseboards, under the baseboards, inside walls/ceilings, cable management systems, etc

If they are "replacing" them there isn't going to be much change, they are basically the same design of speakers.
What is wrong/issue with the QPS's that makes you want to replace them?

Yea Im definitely not a measurement guy so I would have no clue.
I'm pretty sure for the ones that do, they might be able to answer that.

One thing I do know is your room environment and the volume level you're listening at plays a role there also.

Truth be told as much as "Hz" gets all the attention, IMO the bigger importance/benefit is the "quality of sound" a sub produces.

So even at 29Hz and above that SB2000 completely outperforms the R12 because the "quality" in all aspects is much better.

If those "benefits" are not a big priority, then you're not going to value it much.
We all prioritize things differently so that plays a big role on what's best for each of us.

This isn't "gospel" just my opinion from personal comparison and experience.

I'll be the 1st person to say this is completely subjective, there is no "gospel" that applies to everyone(99%)!
In my COMPLETELY subjective experience, the amount of sub 30Hz generally depends on genre:
  • Romance / Comedy - barely any
  • Fantasy - Depends on sound engineer (likely)
  • Action Adventure - Bank on it
  • Sci-Fi - Highly likely
  • Western - Usually not
  • Documentary - Very unlikely
  • Horror - Yes (they are aiming for the mythical brown note)
If you want to "feel" that low rumble (a-la Horror/Sci-Fi/Action adventure), consider installing some "Bass Shakers [parts-express.com]".
