Seriously --- but, I believe in truth in advertising, so left the price the same... but to be fair, even at $148, it's STILL about $30 cheaper than the recent XM3's that are actually still FP or Popular right now. I believe this is the all time low for new XM3 buds... even @ $148, let alone $128.
These have good ANC and sound but are bulky AF and so is the case. The XM4's just launched and are much smaller, but at $280 msrp.. Just be aware of how big these things are before you buy, as its like a micro bluetooth headset from a decade ago, its not discrete at all. If you dont need ANC, there are smaller cheaper IEMs like Buds+ that are highly regarded and trade blows.

What do you think is a better buy, these for essentially $128 or the "renewed" version of these for $80 [amazon.com]? Even if the renewed ones perform just as well as the new ones, I worry about the battery life of a used electronic product like this which would essentially lower it's life span? Is it worth about $50 more to pay for the brand new ones?

I have the Jabra Elite 65Ts and think they are amazing. Are these that much better in sound quality? (excluding the noise cancellation feature, of course)

Also, with the new XM4s out now, do you expect these to drop in price even further? or is this about as good as we're gonna get in price? (both the brand new and renewed ones)
I would say no, if you aren't bothered by renewed/used/refurb products you might as well get that one. I've tried the 65t and would say these are way better just as long as you're okay with more bass - I found I liked the treble of the 65t's more.

They're also cheaper cause the XM4s just came out and are better in every way but price.
But those are literally more than DOUBLE the price of these!!! This at essentially $128 is a MUCH better buy than the XM4 at $280 even if those are better in every way.

Have used these for 1.5 years. Picked them up for around $200 at best buy and bought their 2 year warranty. Used the warranty for the $200 in store credit so I could upgrade to Sonys next model when it came out. Highly recommend going that route as after a year and a half, battery life on these would last maybe 2-3 hours instead of the 6 hours (using anc) when I first got them.

As far as the earbuds go though they were great. Worked well, got them to drown out office noise at work from people making calls all day. Never had an issue with sweat or water damaging them. Always sounded great. Call quality was good and as well and no one really had any issues hearing me during business calls. The only negative I had was keeping them in my ears when doing things like mowing the lawn, or yawning, looking too far to the right or left etc. They were very comfortable but would occasionally pop out if I didn't keep my face steady. It wasn't a big deal for me but was a tiny annoyance. Not enough to return or not love them though. The new models however do a MUCH better job with both ambient sound and noise cancelling and stay in my ears well. I can hop around, run, turn, smile, cough etc and they won't fall out. I actually kept the old silicon ear buds in the earlier model because I liked them better than the memory foam so it's definitely the round style over the paddle style and not just due to a different ear bud.

Anyway. In 2 years I'm going to upgrade them again with best buys $250 in store credit when battery life starts to fail again so rather than save the $50 dollars on Amazon, you'd be better off just paying for them somewhere that has a warranty. I def recommend the Sony ear buds though (either one) if your on the fence.

I have a pair. It has random disconnecting problem. Sometimes one of headphones would disconnect. Extremely annoying. The case is also very bulky.

Sony just released an update not too long ago that fixed Bluetooth disconnect issues. You have to go through Sony's headphone app to upgrade firmware.

interesting strategy, do you mean the $70 geek squad 2year warranty and claim it in for credit as battery degrading?

Yes, but I paid $60 for the warranty pre-covid as the headphones were between $200-$250. I ended up paying $260 total the first time ($199 for xm3 + 60) and last week I got a $240 in store credit for the xm4. The new ones cost 280 + 70 for the warranty so the xm4 ended up costing me $127 total after taxes with another 2 year warranty. Pricier up front obviously at $260 but I'll be able to get upgrades every 2 years for around $100 which saves me money in the long term (assuming best buy stays in business) and it's nice not worrying about one falling and breaking or taking a dunk, or battery dying.

Also, I normally don't pay for things when they come out and wait for a sale but I really liked the xm3 and was excited for these. If something better comes along and has a sale, I could potentially upgrade to something else for just the cost of the warranty. Depends on how close to that 2 year window I am and new prices. I save the date in my phone and usually hit the store a week or two before it's up. They didn't give me a hard time at all for returning due to bad battery life. Didn't check it or anything. Just kept original packaging and made sure the buds were in there.

Best buy is price matching with the $20 gift card (but it's a best buy gift card).

2-Year Accidental Geek Squad Protection is available at $37. I'm thinking about using your strategy but my concern is they eventually say normal expected battery degradation won't be covered or something. thanks for sharing your process

Battery is covered under warranty but even if someone gave you a hard time, then your returning it for random throughout the day Bluetooth disconnects, or intermittent static etc. It's not something geek squad can disassemble and try to fix. I don't consider it being dishonest when your legit trying to use the warranty on a device that doesn't work as well as it did when you first bought it. That's why you paid for a warranty.

The XM4s are a legit upgrade in ANC, comfort, and sound quality because of LDAC. I had XM3s and have been really enjoying the XM4s.

Can I use this bud during my workout? Do they water/sweat proof.

I personally work out with them all the time and I see no issues. I'm not violently throwing my head around but I am doing a lot of movement because I do calisthenics. I honestly don't understand everybody that says they fall out, they fit perfectly imo and they're just using the wrong sized ear end tips
