The dead giveaway that you don't know what causes type 2 diabetes was given away when you thought eating sugar is the main cause if it. Just because blood sugar levels is involved once again does not mean consuming sugar is a direct link to it. You can be indirectly correct with sugar and diabetes in the same way living causes death. Live long enough and you'll die.
If you already have diabetes however, then you know what amount of sugar you can or can't have.

11 grams of added sugars equals nearly 3 teaspoons of sugar in a single shake, if you're OK with that, that's on you, but don't try to minimize Role of sugar in pathology of diabetes.
