About to do this deal, can anyone elaborate on the process to "immediately downgrade to the $30/mo plan"? Is it done through their site, or do I have to call them? Do I change it right after signing up, or do I wait until I've received and activated the phone? Thanks

Thanks for clarifying. The part I was unclear on was that I was under the impression that cricket expects to see the phone on the network every day for 6 months. So turning off the phone and keeping doesn't help.
You just have to not use the sim in the other phone. You can just keep paying your bills, in this case, the credit will cover you whole 6 months payment after downgrade, so you can just set the calendar and request the unlock in your account.

cool, thanks for the heads up, i may have to bite - wonder too, if i get 2 and another family member gets two, do they still have the friends and family thing to get the "family pack" discounts?
I am not sure what "family pack" discounts you referred. When I did this before, total monthly payment was decreased to 90 for two. But that's the upper bound one customer could do. So you need two sperate accounts if you want 4. So the total monthly will be 180.
It's 90 for a two first month, but prepaid charges month they collect 60/each line, which I'm assuming will later be just added as leftover credit. But they do charge total 90+60*2+60*2 = $330. Right?
Has anyone used rsim or similar in these deals to unlock immediately, use their own sim, then request official unlock after 6 months?
I wonder if there would be any problems in terms of messing with the ICCID that would complicate the official unlock down the line. Can you change back to the original iccid w/o wiping or am I over complicating/thinking it?
And is rsim still the one to get? If not, any other reccos?

I need 2 phones so when I've added them, total come out to be 330 because of $30 discount for multiple lines. Once I've received the phones, I just need to downgrade & keep it for 6 months to get it unlocked?
I have grand father planned 5/100 so not sure if I can merge these to the existing one, any comments.
Also, is this SE 2nd generation? TIA.

EDIT: I just ordered another one and plan to do the same. If it ships, I will update you how it goes. But the deal seems to end today
